  2. @MarjevanteYes I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes you just have to give it a try for yourself to find out how it is!

  3. Hopefully you will find it as interesting as I do. Once the story starts I find it hard to put down. I have noticed that books and movies are very subjective and just because one person says it's good doesn't mean everyone does. My oldest son told me to read The Summoner and said it is the greatest fantasy book ever written but it took me forever to get through the first two chapters and it didn't get any better after that.

  4. It started kind of slow, but is picking up. Same thing happened with the Dresden Files books, first was slower, then the main story kicks off and gets amazing. Thanks! Looking forward to reading more.

  5. Oh man, you are in for a treat. The Culture novels are my favourite novels. Of all novels. Forever. Mind you, Consider Phlebas is one of the most peculiar of the lot because it casts the Culture as the villains, rather than the (well, sort-of) protagonists they will become over the course of the rest of the books. In retrospect is a curious choice, but one that pays off, because you come at them in Player of Games (the 2nd novel) with a more dispassionate view. Banks is a genius.
