Just letting anyone know (especially @Roedynn who I know is playing) that school just started up again this week so I have been very busy lately getting my classroom going and meeting my students/first week of school stuff. This is why I have not been in game lately. I haven't lost interest or anything, just been getting the school year started is all. I hope to be back in middle earth very soon as my routine gets back to normal.

The kinship is not active at the moment I'm afraid. I don't see many people having logged on in the past 2 months. I am on LoA from all things RoH so I took all but my guardian (kinship 'owner') out of the kin. I myself am playing a LOT on my various alts, as LOTRO is currently my only mmo. If you give me your character name on Landroval, I'll add you and shoot you a tell if I ever see you on.

I started LOTRO a few months prior to the Mordor expansion. It was okay, but I didn't like some of the quests; SWTOR spoiled me with its dialogue options. That update ruined my character's look and I freaked out, so I stopped playing.
I don't know what adjustments they made since then, if any.
They tweak things now and again, but they have released tons of new content since Mordor and into places I don't think even the books have gone deeply into. Now that I am in quiet retirement from leadership I look forward to jumping in again.

Thanks Trev. This confused me because on the calendar it shows earlier than that. But in the recruitment posts it shows us having an old pvp event at 8, with the strikes after. Since we haven't had a pvp event on Thursday in a while, I wondered if strikes had gotten moved up to what the forum calendar shows.

Sorry guys, we've had some illness spreading through our home and been dealing with that. Haven't been as on top of this as I'd like.
However, I'd like to make an official spvp night that we can count on each week. Like any event of the week, some weeks are better than others, but we do the best we can. I am also working to make a 2nd wvw night, and Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday are the prime candidates.
I'll add a poll for spvp to get some hard, easy to read data.
Poll added to this thread (see the very top) for an spvp event. The times should not interfere with any other division event during the week. (If I made a mistake, let me know and I'll change it).

Remnants, Assemble!!!
Our efforts to organize in WvW are going good, and we have some great core players who love running around the battlegrounds. To help things out, we want to establish our roster to give people an idea of what we have and what we may need. If you are debating on a class that is needed, then this will help you a lot! If you don't want to take WvW too seriously and are just interested in tagging along and enjoying the ride, that is okay too! There is a place for everyone!
First: What is needed?
METAs are always changing, so we will want to change as well. But for now, some important builds for any WvW group include:
- Support Firebrand for crowd control, healing, utility
- Med Scrapper for healing, condi cleanse, support
- Support Spellbreaker for support, condi cleanse, boon removal
- Support Chronomancer for crowd control, utility, boon removal
- Power Scourge for boon removal, direct damage
- Power Reaper for direct damage
- Power Herald called Hammer Backline for direct damage, utility
These can be tweaked to your playstyle of course, and there are many others that can be helpful. Check out Metabattle for a good list and some good explanations/videos of what builds are good and what they do. There are plenty of builds not mentioned that you can play around with.
If you are interested in joining us for WvW, post below with your interest and your desired class. If you need help picking a class, we can discuss and help out as well! There is a lot of collective knowledge in our community we can harness and we can always practice stuff in the guild hall arena before going out into the battlefield! And if you want to pick a role but need time to gear up with the proper stats, weapons, etc that is okay, put your intentions down and we can help you get where you want to be!

Arise, Remnants! Battle is at Hand!
Hello friends! Friday nights have been a lot of fun, and I am grateful to all who come and squad up with us! But I know there are many who WANT to run with us, but cannot. This is due to Friday nights being a bad timing for you, perhaps it is too late in the evening, or now with the new server links it may be because of long map queues. Because of how things have evolved the past month, I'd like to announce a bit of an overhaul to our PvP-WvW efforts.
I. RoH Raid Times
As of right now, we are only 'raiding' WvW on Friday nights, 10:00EST. This is about an hour after reset. Even an hour later, queues were still quite long and unpredictable last night. It wasn't until our event ended (around midnight EST) that queues started to drop off. To counter this, I would like to propose a 2nd WvW event for our group, with as many Remnants as we can possibly get to join in! To find out when we can make this 2nd event happen, please vote in the poll located within this topic and share your availabilities. We will do what we can to accommodate as many people as we can. In this way, we still hope to participate on reset night, while also giving others a chance to join in throughout the week.
II. RoH Tarnished Coast presence
Officers before me have built up the RoH name a bit, though we faded a bit down the stretch of 2020. This past month I have been trying to reconnect RoH to the rest of the server, and am in communications with the other commanders of both TC and Sanctum of Rall (our current link server). We also have our own RoH channel within the TC Discord. For one of our two WvW events, I propose we use this resources on the Tarnished Coast Discord Server in an effort to build the RoH brand as being loyal and active participants on our server. So if you have not already, join the server and set your nickname to include [RoH] in front of it. We will wear our tags proudly and do what we can for our server!
III. Classes and Roster
To help organize our effort, I'd like to create a GW2 WvW roster. By having certain classes present in our group, it can help us be a little more successful. Nobody is REQUIRED to run any class they don't want. The first rule of WvW is to enjoy it, and that includes playing a class you like! So we are NOT asking you to change anything. But, if you don't really have a preference, or you've wondered what a good class to play in WvW might be, we can certainly help coordinate with that. Regardless, anyone interested in this effort should check out our guild's WvW roster to sign up and see details.
IV. Having Fun
I know I am a broken record, but I want to stress that our top priority is to enjoy the game. The new event, TC Discord, organized groups, are not meant to be taking things so seriously that we are forgetting who we are. While the hope is these efforts will help us be more successful and a more consistent force for our server, we still want everyone to feel welcome to try WvW and NOT feel intimidated. If you don't have an optimal build, it doesn't matter! Come run with us anyways!
You can contribute with our group and have a ton of fun regardless of what you are playing.
V. Assistants
I am still looking for and crossing my fingers that a few brave members can step up to be assistants to the PvP department. I'd love to make something of a 'war council' to help drive our decisions as RoH PvP. 2 heads are better than 1, and 3 are better than 2! So if you have any interest in serving as a Lieutenant General in the Remnant Army, please send me a PM here on the forums!

While meta is constantly changing in the realm of GW2, the community has fallen into a common threshold of what roles are useful within SPvP. Of course, a lot of specs will blur the lines between the main roles there is usually something that is considered best. Understanding your build and what it's best for, is important in your Guild Wars journey. Not just for SPvP. I'm definitely not saying that if it isn't meta, you shouldn't play it. I just caution you with making sure you understand your build enough to see what strengths and weaknesses it may have. If you are on a squishier character, don't try to bunker on a node with no support. With that said, these are the main roles that are usually seen in an effective SPvP team.
Support/bunker
As a support/bunker your job is to show up to team fights and be the immovable object on that node. It’s a very “skill rotation” based role but very active if you’re good at it. It’s imperative that you pay attention to your teammates health and make sure whoever is getting pressured gets showered in love and affection. If you can't do that, boons and heals will do just fine. This means that you need to identify who will get targeted the most on your team and stick to them like that annoying piece of gum on the underside of their shoe. A good support is also able to anticipate where big fights will happen and where their team will need support the most.
Examples: Firebrand, Tempest, Chronomancer, Druid
DPS
In general, a DPS spec doesn’t do too well on its own and needs a buddy (often a support) to take off some of the heat. Their role is usually to unload pressure on a node to make it difficult for the enemy to stay on it during team fights. You should mostly try to anticipate where team fights will happen and not get caught in the middle of the map or on a node alone. It’s not your job to hold nodes.
Examples: Scourge, Revenant, Holosmith, Reaper
Roamer
A roamer is a spec with high mobility and damage. They are not 1v1 specs but they get from node to node very fast to +1 fights or simply decap nodes. Your role is to be as active as possible and disrupt the enemy team’s point intake. If you are in a fight more than 30 seconds to a minute as a roamer, you’re probably wasting your time. Better get those running shoes on cause your job is to get to the nodes the fastest you can. Therefore dying as a roamer is very punishing for your team, because they rely on you to turn fights in your favor and be the one decapping nodes when things don’t go your way.
Examples: Thief, Mirage, Revenant, Holosmith, Soulbeast
Duelist
Duelists want to avoid going to teamfights and instead focus on forcing the enemy team to rotate players to them by mainly pushing side nodes. These are specs that tend to have good self sustain and very high pressure in small scale fights. However, don’t contribute much when there’s too much AoE that prevents them outputting that pressure. They want to stick to 1 target and be as oppressive as possible. Duelists also need high mobility and sustain to get to nodes fast and contest them in 1v1s and 1v2s. You want the other team to dedicate that extra player to killing you so your team can have favored fights elsewhere.
Examples: Mirage, Spellbreaker, Weaver, Holosmith, Soulbeast, Druid

Play what you want good sir! If you like Mirage, stick with it! But you are more than welcome to switch it up if you decide you want to mix things up.

2 weeks later it is still on 'Very High", so there is always hope! Ya never know with these things.

Suuuper late reply, sorry about that. I somehow missed this post.
I'm getting mixed responses to the Rings of Power series. Personally I am not holding my breath on it, but I certainly can't judge it before it releases. By the same token, if the Amazon game is met with mixed or poor reviews, I don't think LOTRO is in much danger. Most casual Lord of the Rings fans are familiar with/enjoy the Third Age (Bilbo, Frodo, Gandalf, etc). And SSG is doing a good job of expanding the map and allowing us to explore and experience the LOTR world most people want. I look forward to giving the new game a try, but I don't think it will be easily compared to lotro.
Speaking of which, I've been craving lotro lately, and may be getting back on more regularly if anyone else wants to group up.
