    What are Digimon?

Digimon, short for "Digital Monster", are mysterious lifeforms that were discovered in the Computer Network in 1997.[1] They are central to the Digimon franchise. The word "Digimon" is typically invariable in the plural, though there are some cases where the term is pluralized as "Digimons". Digimon include almost all the creatures that reside within a parallel universe called the "Digital World." There are many different species of Digimon, as well as unconfirmed and new generations of Digimon yet to be revealed. The rate of new Digimon species continuously increase as the Digital World expands each year.

Digimon hatch from eggs called Digi-Eggs. They age via a process called "Digivolution" which changes their appearance and increases their powers. The effect of Digivolution, however, is not permanent, and Digimon who have digivolved will most of the time revert back to their previous form after a battle or if they are too weak to continue. Some Digimon are feral in nature, but most possess large amounts of intelligence and human speech. They are able to digivolve by the use of Digivices that their human partners have. In some cases, as in the first season, the Tamers had to find some special items such as Crests and Tags so the Digimon could digivolve in another stage called Ultimate then Mega.

The first Digimon anime introduces the Digimon life cycle: They age in a similar fashion to real organisms, but do not die under normal circumstances because they are made of reconfigurable data. Old Digimon and Digimon who receive fatal wounds dissolve into infinitesimal bits of data. The data then recomposes itself as a Digi-Egg, which will hatch when rubbed gently, and the Digimon goes through its life cycle again. Digimon who are reincarnated in this way will sometimes retain some or all their memories of their previous life. However, if a Digimon's data is completely destroyed, they will die.

In the Digimon Adventure universe, this cycle of reincarnation can be interrupted if the Digimon dies in the Real World, although the system-wide Reboot allowed such Digimon to finally be reincarnated. In addition, when a human dies in that universe, any Digimon partnered to it die as well. In the Digimon Tamers and Digimon Data Squad universes, the Digimon's data can be downloaded or absorbed by other Digimon, resulting in a permanent death.

    Level

For most Digimon, there are six Digivolution levels:

    1. Fresh or Baby, officially translated as "Baby I"
    2. In-Training, officially translated as "Baby II"
    3. Rookie, officially translated as "Child"
    4. Champion, officially translated as "Adult"
    5. Ultimate, officially translated as "Perfect"
    6. Mega, officially translated as "Ultimate"

    Attribute

Most Digimon fall into the first three categories, with "Free" being rarer and "Variable" mostly exclusive to Hybrid Digimon. Some Digimon either have their attributed unidentified or lack them entirely.

    1. Data (weak to Virus)
    2. Vaccine (weak to Vaccine)
    3. Virus (weak to Data)
    4. Variable
    5. Free
    6. Unidentified

    Families

Digimon are classified into different "Digimon families" and serve as the archetypes of the various classes of Digimon.

    • Nature Spirits [NSp] - Animal, monster-like, desert-dwelling.
    • Deep Savers [DS] - Aquatic, marine and polar.
    • Nightmare Soldiers [NSo] - Demonic, undead.
    • Wind Guardians [WG] - Avian, flying.
    • Metal Empire [ME] - Mechanical, mutated.
    • Dark Area [DA] - Demonic, evil, Dark Area-welling.
    • Virus Busters [VB] - Sacred, angelic, holy.
    • Dragon's Roar [DR] - Draconic.
    • Jungle Troopers [JT] - Insectoid, vegetation-like.
    • Unknown [UN] - Mutant, uncategorized.
    • None - Babies, or too young to be classified.

    What is this place?

The Digital World's beginnings can be traced to the early 20th century, with the activation of the Atanasoff–Berry Computer—the first computer—which laid the basic foundations of the world. Subsequently, the first patented computer ENIAC was activated and proceeded to build upon those foundations, shaping the Digital World. Over the ensuing years through the growth of electronic communications on Earth the Digital World continued to expand, even after the ABC and ENIAC were shut down. There are multiple alternate reality incarnations of the Digital World, each one running parallel with the multiple Earths existing in the multiverse.

The different Digimon anime series are set in separate Digital Worlds. The basic mechanics, locations, and inhabitants of Digital World appear in each though the individual natures, origins, and histories vary greatly. Similarities between these various Digital Worlds exist, however. They all basically parallel Earth's geography features. There are continents, islands, deserts, mountains, oceans, and almost all other kinds of terrain one finds on the topography of Earth. However, as data is easy to modify and considering that the Digital World is made up of data the features of any particular area of the Digital World are subject to immediate, and drastic alteration at any time. For example, a gigantic mountain can be formed in moments Enter The Dark Masters or portions of islands can be scattered across a sea Evil Shows His Face with ease. The true malleability of the Digital World makes it a frequent target of attack from humans with ill intentions.

Although ordinary animals are known to exist in at least some of the Digital Worlds, the dominant lifeforms of all realities are Digimon. Digimon are sentient creatures also made of data. It is possible for Digimon to travel to the Real World, what humans call Earth though this requires the opening of some sort of dimensional wormhole in either the Digital World or Real World.

Most of humanity does not know of the Digital World's existence. The few humans that do either programmed some aspect of the original version or were summoned by a Digimon or other digital being. On rare occasions, however, a wormhole or portal can appear on Earth allowing people unknowing of the Digital World to enter it.

This is an informative thread for those who are unfamiliar with roleplay terms. This may include some that are used outside of the Guild Wars 2 roleplay department, or are very rarely seen within it. Any others may be added at any time, or if there are some missing on the list, feel free to message me!

    • AU- Alternate Universe - This is a term for a universe that deliberately deviates from the canon. Can be a minor deviation, or a large one. Or something in between.
    • Canon — The original source information (TV show, book, etc.) that the characters came from.
    • Charrie – Character
    • Crossover – RPers who  incorporates characters, events, places, ideas, etc from another fandom. IE, Pokemon meets Digimon.
    • DM – Direct Message
    • FC – Face Claim (the person (usually a celebrity) that plays your character). Same as PB.
    • Fluff —
    1.       Fluff is when you add additional, though probably unnecessary, information in a post to make it longer/match a partner’s post length.

    2.       Fluff in romance roleplays/shipping is when there are scenes that probably do not progress the plot forward in any way, and are more or less there for the   two characters to interact in a lovey-dovey manner/do cute, sweet things together.

    • God-Mod (GM) - Can mean either having an all-powerful character or trying to control another person’s character.
    • Head Canon- Something that the individual or fandom believes to be true in the story, show, etc. and it generally makes sense, but hasn’t been confirmed by the creators of the media. More or less, a ‘personal’ canon.
    • IC – In Character
    • IM- Instant Messenger
    • Mary Sue/Gary Stu — Used to describe a character that is often times ‘perfect’ in every way, is capable of upstaging other characters no matter what, they can pick up on any task and master it in no time, etc. Usually a perfected self-insert.
    • Metagaming, Metagame – The use of out of character knowledge in character.
    • MC – Mature Content
    • MSRP: Multi-Storyline Role Player (Same as MV)
    • Mun — The person behind the character. A.K.A the roleplayer.

    • Muse — Often referred to either the player’s character, or things that inspire the player.

    • MV – Multi-Verse
    • Novella — A roleplay writing style containing six or more paragraphs, usually long.

    • NPC — Non-playable character. This is when the player controls the actions of a character that may not be tied to the story permanently, such as pedestrains, waiters, office workers, etc. These may also be side characters that are tied to the story, though only played and controlled by one player.
    • OC- Original Character
    • OOC- Out of Character
    • PB – Played by (this is the avatar that you use)
    • PM – Puppet Master (the RL person behind the account)
    • RL/ IRL- Real Life/ In Real life
    • R&R – Read and Replied
    • RP – Role Play
    • Ship/Shipping — Short for relationship. The act of shipping two characters together is to engage the two of them in an official relationship.
    • SL – Story Line
    • TL – Timeline
    • UN – username
    • VC – Voice claim, a Youtube link or video used to describe and display what your character sounds like.
    • Verse – short for Universe. Such as Star Wars Universe
    • Vignette – A short story which is centered on the character’s feelings, emotions, experiences, reflections, and thoughts. Usually very short.
    • Love 1
  6. Ranked is super brutal; I went into it completely unprepared.
Though, despite only winning two out of the qualifiers, I was placed into Silver somehow?
Ah -- I dont know, League makes me so mad, and honestly, I much prefer Dota! But it's still a game I could never quit playing just yet.

I'd be happy to play with!

  7. My favorite champion is Viktor. <3
I stopped playing mid ever since they got rid of mana pots, though. That and Yasuo and Zed.
I much prefer support, especially if the ADC can stay in sync with my passive playstyle.
