You mentioned running..... so I'll bring up 'couch to 5K' that I mentioned elsewhere here as well.
I am so not a runner.....not a runner's body, etc. but i came across it and gave it a try. I actually got up to a gentle sustained jog of 45 minutes per day and I am a size-able guy in my 50's.
Just make sure you check with your Primary Care Provider before embarking on strenuous exercise programs!
