  1. @Archaic Whimsy what is your schedule like?
  2. Welcome to all the new members!!! Super excited you're all looking to start fishing together! For any daytime players, I'm hoping to do a fishing trip to Deshaan on Wednesday at 3pm EST. I'll post in game chat and make us a special subchannel, but wanted to give you all a heads up first.
  3. I think Vvardenfell is so pretty
  4. The final catch in Coldharbor felt so sweet! Also, I never want to go back to that zone for as long as I live. It took forever >.<
  5. You couldn't even see this fishing spot in the middle of the Eastmarch river. Orbit moused over the spot and luckily found it.
  6. What zones do you still need to complete? Post them here, and find someone(s) to team up with to complete them!
  7. Post your favorite spots around Tamriel here. @orbitoclast and I recently finished Coldharbor, and had a lot of luck around the Moonless Walk Wayshrine:
  8. Here we can chat, post intros, and get to know each other. Feel free to update us about your fishing expeditions, what you've got going on in the guild, or about your real life happenings.
  9. I have the second book in my collection already, so that's good to know there's more information to come about the magic we encountered in the first book! That sounds right. I was reading an Afterward by LeGuin in my book and she said more or less the same thing. I think I just want to know more about what that shadow realm to be fully satisfied. But it is a good moral to a good story.
  10. I agree, I did not like Ged's cocky attitude at first too. I was very surprised when he was so harshly scarred, but was glad he remained a hero character by being humbled, instead of becoming a villain and seeking revenge or blaming Jasper for his own arrogance. The archipelago setting I feel was very unique of this author. Each island got it's own climate and culture. The map included in my book also made it easy to follow Ged's quest, which was great because I'm more of a visual person. One thing that really stood out to me was that this book was originally published in 1968, but it featured main characters who were colored. Even though I'm Latina, it was so difficult for me to picture Ged as having dark hair and dark skin because most main characters are not people of color. Before I got to the description of him I just imagined him as being blonde haired and blue eyed because so often heroes are. It was really difficult to remind myself that nope, he was tan. Even today, having a main character that's a person of color is rare, so I can't even imagine how revolutionary that was in the 60s to read a book like that. I'm slightly confused about the Stone of Terrenon. It was something evil and of darkness, but other than "temptation" I'm not sure what it was supposed to represent or it's significance to Earthsea. Where did it come from? Exactly what powers does it hold? How long has it been in Osskil? I'm hoping we get to learn more about it in the other books of the series because I've been left wondering. As for the ending, I'm also slightly confused. So, I get that the shadow was part of Ged. But does that mean there's a parallel universe of shadows for everything that has a name in Earthsea? Did the shadow build the shadow island Ged confronted him on, so that's why it disappeared when Ged said the shadow's name? This is also something I hope we learn in the other books of this series. It just seemed so bizarre to me that they were on the this shadow island, then fell into the water. Also, where did the shadow go? Did it get absorbed by Ged or go back to it's shadow realm? Lol, so many questions! Perhaps I missed something in the writing/context clues. I'm hoping someone can answer some of them.
  11. Excited to get back into the Star Wars universe. This will be my first SW book! Purchased on Amazon and should be here by Saturdayyyy!
  12. Happy birthday! Hope it's the best one yet :)

  13. With as many projects in the community as you have your hand in, I'm glad to help out however I can!
  14. @Angelyxx @Unnameable I see the two of you recently joined the club, would you like to help us vote for our August read?
  15. I have been super in the mood for some good classic literature, although I am personally not an Austen fan (no idea why, but her books never clicked with me...maybe now that I'm older they will?), but would be willing to give P&P Zombies a try, just because it sounds really fun and it would also perhaps qualify for our desired sci-fi theme, right? lol Otherwise, if people would like to go with other sci-fi novels, my vote for those: 1. Ender's Game 2. Fahrenheit 451 3. Slaughterhouse-Five All of those have been on my to-read list since high school, but I still haven't gotten around to them.
  16. @gryphon_42 Oooh, that's interesting to hear about the audio version! I have a number of Audible credits, perhaps I should try next month's book through Audible instead. I'm just finishing Earthsea and curious to hear about what you all think about the end. I'm having the same feeling as I did the first time around, but will wait to say until we get more readers to the finish line. I'm usually a slow reader, so I'm surprised how fast it went!
  17. @ZEE88 I've read this before, but I had no idea it was put into a miniseries. I definitely enjoy watching film adaptations after reading, did you find the miniseries engaging?
  18. I vote A Wizard of Earthsea! I love Ursula K. Le Guin. As soon as I found this club, that was the #1 author I thought of suggesting. She is an incredible fantasy and sci-fi writer. If you have not read her work, you absolutely should. Her writing is sophisticated without being overly challenging, and layered with themes without clogging up the novel with unnecessary chunks of description (*cough* Dickens *cough*). I think she would be an enjoyable read for multiple types of readers.
