Goddess of plants and nature, and counterpart to the Savagius Entity: savageone11.deviantart.com/art…
Worshipers of the mute plant goddess have long since died out, but the entity known as Kaoniope has remained as a counterpart to Savagius. Though a hermaphrodite via its plant-like body, it prefers to display itself as feminine, and tends to respond favorably to being referred to as 'she'. The goddess concerns herself with mostly plant life on Earth, though she'll sometimes interfere with other organism activity if it'll benefit or protect plant life.
She may be gentle, but Kaoniope is not without her limits. Along with supernatural plant abilities and fast reflexes, she's able to cause an alarmingly fast fungal rot to appear on objects and organic life, gradually killing what it infects. Many humans that damage what she considers "sacred" places of nature are often disposed of this way, and efficiently.
Savagius and Kaoniope rarely quarrel, but if they do, it's usually due to excessive amounts of environmental destruction. The goddess is easily pacified by giving bodies to decompose as fertilizer so that the damaged plants can heal and grow again.
Though a deity, Kaoniope isn't without her weaknesses. She's slowed down considerably in extreme temperatures and is vulnerable to fire. Since it's her job as a goddess of plants to slow down and hopefully stop forest and wild fires, she's needed to regenerate her body many, many times. If the damage to her is too extensive, she'll die and decompose rapidly -- but it's not the end of her. Deep within the Earth's soil, a seed will sprout and grow a backup of her. So far, she's planted hundreds of these seeds, but it's feasible to kill her over and over again until there's no more seeds left.
Kaoniope is also in charge of keeping Zhejhotl (imnurhest.deviantart.com/art/Z… ) imprisoned in the earth, and keeping him sedated through telepathy by touching him with her roots. It takes a while to put the angry Lovecraftian entity into a sleep-like state, but it's enough to keep him from moving too much.
