100% agree. I think that inability to/slow response to call outs was what made us struggle the most. Team comps are very versatile in what can work, especially if people are very familiar with their builds, but even winning fights isn't going to win a match. We were pretty frequently out rotated because the person making calls was either ignored or not responded to in a timely manner. That's a huge aspect of PvP that we don't often consider and very much comes with experience. Map awareness and very fast responses to the ever changing dynamics are necessary to win, or at least not get stomped, against high level teams.

I'll try to meet with @Eisen Wor'sha and @Bainek to discuss how we want to handle these going forward so the matches hurt less I agree that the mix of veterans and brand new people on the same team can cause some difficulties, especially in the heat of a match, and that constantly shifting who is with who makes it really hard to get a feel for how each teammate plays and what their strengths are.

After humbly beseeching the EC for a 5th assistant slot, the Mists Krewe is happy to announce that our 5th assistant slot has been FILLED!!

A big thank you and congratz to @Bainek for stepping up to join the team to share his extensive WvW and PvP expertise and help lead us into the eternal battle in the Mists!

Don't worry about that at all!! We don't run specific comps and are overall super chill (just have an insatiable hunger for the blood of our enemies ) We run official WvW raids on mondays and fridays but keep an eye out on the GW2-Mists channel, it's SUPER common for us to start up havoc groups any time from the afternoon to late at night lol

Event Changes:

• In House PvP Tournaments are temporarily canceled. Depending on interest, I will consider reinstating them once I finish my clinical rotation (Early Oct) or run them as special one off events!
• Nothing has been finalized yet but there is the potential for another of the Mists events to move to Saturday afternoons. Stay tuned!

A new hero has stepped up to command our troops in the endless wars of the Mists!! He's a familiar face to all our WvW regulars and certainly no stranger to leading stuff. A big huge thank you to the Mists Krewe's newest addition....

This week we'll be taking a quick breather from viciously murdering your peers for money! If anyone has any suggestions for what they want to run this week, post it down here!! I threw some suggestions down below if no one thinks of any. If no one picks anything before/at the start of the event we'll be Painting the Town in Edge of the Mists!

Some Dealer Suggestions:

-Edge of the Mists: very underpopulated WvW mode where every server of a color is grouped together (all greens on a team, all blues, etc). This is a very chill place to get an idea of general WvW mechanics, work on warclaw objectives, reward track progress, EotM specific achievements, and fluffin up our ego when we cap the entire map.

-Stronghold sPvP: 5v5 stronghold matches! This is the lesser known MOBA inspired game mode that requires a very different approach (and some build variation!) from normal conquest matches. If we get enough, we can make puppy dog eyes at @Trevuori to pretty please let us use his private arena for an in house 5v5 where we just swap up the teams between matches

-Quaggan Ball: Adding for @MeRB Quaggan Ball is a 2 team sports game we play in the Guild Hall Arena! Hop on a hammer guardian (or anything else with knockbacks, hammer guardian just works the best) and try to knock the quaggan (MeRB) into the enemy goal!

Good morning everyone! Our first Tournament was last night and it was a WILD SUCCESS!! Thank you everyone who came out to fight, I really truly appreciate all of you with all my heart. I was SO scared that it was going to end up being a flop. I'd like to give an extra big thank you to all the people who came out who were inexperienced or had never PvPed before! This post will act as a summary/overview of the tournament so anyone who's curious and couldn't make it can take a look! As I'm still learning the finer details of running these events, they will also be fine tuned in the future based on what I learn along the way!

• Hosted in a private arena
• Maps rotated between Courtyard, Hall of the Mists, Asura Arena, and Auric Span
• 1v1s with Double Elimination
• Characters/builds could not be changed after the participant stepped into the ring for the first time

Projected Changes for Next Time:

• Now that I've got a better understanding of brackets, that will certainly take less time to set up!
• If we have enough people, I will do randomized 2v2 teams to move things along quicker. 2.5hrs was a BIIIIT lengthy!! Sorry about that!

Super excited to be here! Thank you @Koro for letting me join the department and BIG BIG shout out to him for running the department by himself for so long! That's a tremendous amount of work and I'm glad to help relieve some of that! I'm looking forward to working with you to help continue to grow the Mists department

@Mortuus I used to get really mad about sPvP when my team wasn't doing as well as I thought they should've. Sometimes it's just flat out a hiccup in the matchmaking (if a match is 50-500, the teams shouldnt have been put together and anet messed up).  Sometimes I'm being countered really hard and can't do anything, sometimes my teammates are flat out not making plays I think would be helpful at all, sometimes teammates AFK or DC or spend the whole match calling people bad words in teamchat despite being the most useless person on the team. It gets...frustrating. Turning off map/team chat can help with a bit of that. Eventually you can work up to a point of indifference where you don't really care if a match goes badly. I get that way with ranked a lot because I'm getting pips regardless of how it goes. Sure, wins are faster but loses don't hurt me any!

One thing that helps me is knowing when to take a break. Generally, if I lose 2 matches in a row I'm done for at least a few hours. That gives plenty of time to cool off if necessary and really nips that buildup of frustration in the bud.

 I hope so!! I've heard of some faction stuff with kurziks and luxans or something. @MeRB probably knows? 

It was never an officially supported gametype in GW2 but I know there used to be a lot of guilds organizing them themselves. There's an arena area in the Obsidian Sanctum JP area that they used to take place in. I've definitely fallen out of the loop so I don't know how common they are anymore but one of my old Dragonbrand friends pretty much only GvGed.

Hmmm....favorite for me would have to be Solid Ocean. It's quick, boss is all mechanics rather than a DPS fest, and that's one of the first ones I mastered back in the day. I also like Cliffside even though it used to trigger my fear of heights really badly during the parts where you climb over scaffolding. The hammer mechanic adds some spice!

@RaVem I do it kind of randomly, depends on when I hop on to do my dailies. I'm def up for some sort of scheduled roaming though!!

@Lim I transfered over from BG a few weeks ago. Theres a LOT more roaming in this tier, which is nice since thats all I ever want to do. I've noticed one very vocal toxic person in chat but that's it.

Also dang, I hadn't even realized BG still had a war council! My old guild was really involved in WvW years ago back when there was that big thing with some big guilds making accounts on other T1 servers and raiding against BG that ended with some guilds leaving to try and get YB to kick BG out of T1 lol. I'm glad I wasn't our WvW lead, all that sounds so stressful.

Aaah I was like 2 days late preordering the AC switch ;n; I wanted to be super ready so I just ordered a normal one and put a cute skin on it so at least it's still got a bit more whimsy.
