Remnants of Hope

Community FAQ

Q. What are the origins of The Remnants of Hope?

A. Remnants first began as The New Jedi Order on July 7th, 2009 on the Star Wars Galaxies MMORPG. Like many guilds, we have experienced much change over the years. Though not all of our founding members remain, there are some whom have called RoH home since the very beginning, and, more importantly, many whom have come to call us home in the years since. Few guilds can claim such a rich lineage of exceptional people as RoH, and our ranks continue to swell as we grow unhindered.

Q. There are a lot of guilds out there. What is it about RoH that makes you stand out?

A. The most common shortcoming of most guilds is inactivity. You will find none of that here in RoH. Aside from our great roster of friendly, experienced members, you will find that there are a plethora of activities to be found within our guild. Be it PvP, PvE raids, or RP both in-game and on our forums, you will find our guild charging into each with great enthusiasm.

Q. What is your primary focus?

A. We do not focus solely on any one aspect of game-play. While you may be solely interested in PvP, PvE, or RP, we recruit with the intention of building a large community of players for each aspect of game-play, thereby ensuring our involvement in all that a game has to offer. You are not required to participate in anything beyond what you are interested in, but know that you we are progressive in all aspects of the game.

Q. What type of guildies are you looking for?

A. Naturally we always gravitate towards mature individuals that are here to enjoy the game. We focus on you as an individual first and foremost, on what positive contributions you will bring to the guild. A player that is unmatched in PVP, but is rude or disrespectful to his guildmates, will have no place with us. We are interested in hospitality, comradeship, honor, and amicable individuals who are looking to make friends along the way. If you're looking to take an active part in our community and show maturity in doing so, you're the best candidate we could ask for!

Q. How do I join The Remnants of Hope?

A. Visit our forums at www.remnantsofhope.com/boards and register as a user! From there, go to the Apply to Remnants of Hope board, start a new thread, and fill out an application. Put some serious effort into it. How lax or thorough it is tells us a lot about you as a potential guild member. The more you elaborate on your answers and the level of enthusiasm you show in your application will be key components that we scrutinize. Be patient -give us time to judge your application. Lastly, don't be afraid to add some points to your application that you feel are relevant or important to you. This also shows us how much you really want to be a member of RoH.

At this point, it's time to mingle! Hop into our shoutbox and introduce yourself, hangout in our forums and make some connections. We're all a friendly bunch and, when it comes time to judge your application, the recruiters and hopefully many guild members will be quite familiar with you already. All about the people you know, as they say.

Once your initial application has been accepted, you'll go through a Trial Phase, in which you'll be able to access a large portion of our forums. Be sure to review our polices, rules and regulations so that you know what will be expected of you. Once you've completed the trial requirements and two weeks have passed, you'll be interviewed by a member of your game's respective Recruitment Department (not nearly as intimidating as it might seem).  The Division Commander and Officers will listen to the interview and vote on the success of your trials.  If successful, you will become an official member of our community and from there, your journey within the Remnants of Hope begins!

Q. What type of servers do the Remnants of Hope roll on?

A. The Remnants of Hope are currently playing Star Wars: The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, Elder Scrolls Online, and World of Warcraft on the Ebon Hawk, Tarnished Coast, US Megaserver, and Wyrmrest Accord (Alliance Faction) servers, respectively.

Q. What does RoH aspire to achieve or stand for as a guild?

A. The Remnants of Hope stands for a lot of things. If our atmosphere shows anything, let it be that it demonstrates our integrity, maturity, and respect for others. Our undying loyalty to our guild is what has helped us grow, evolve, and survive as a community over the years. What we stand for is to serve as a place where one can escape from their daily struggles and stress of life, and to enjoy some great gaming alongside some like-minded people. We want to ensure that everyone in RoH has a great experience being with our guild. One of our member's favorite phrases, "Light from the few can be a beacon to many," has become our guild motto over the years. We strive to be a guild known across the gaming community for its many excellent features and comradeship.

Q. How is The Remnants of Hope structured?

A. We have an elected High Elder that oversees the Community and mediates discussions of the Elder Council -four dedicated members tasked with overseeing all community-related matters, from new division proposals to interpersonal conflicts.   Players from each game division elect a Division Commander responsible for overseeing all guild activity within said game.  The Division Commander appoints and manages Officers, helps out with in-game events, and keeps the Elder Council appraised of the division's status with monthly reports.  Individual Department Officers oversee a single aspect of a game: PvE, PvP, RP, Recruitment, et al.  Officers can also appoint Department Assistants, who aid them in running departmental events and handling their other duties.  But the most important level of the organizational structure is you, the individual Members who keep the community active, mature, friendly, and fun.

Q. Are there advancement opportunities in RoH? How do I achieve this?

A. Sure there are! All members are free to organize events using the forums and/or Guild Calendar, but if you're interest in a more active role in the community, keep and eye on the Position Openings sub-forum.  This is where all Officer, Division Commander, Elder Council, and High Elder openings are posted, along with the requirements necessary to be eligible, and the application questions.  If you wish to simply lend a helping hand with a particular department (e.g. GW2 PvE, Swtor Recruitment, etc), contact the Officer of that Department to ask about becoming an Assistant.  The current roster of guild leaders can be found here.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this post and for expressing interest in our guild! If you're still unsure or have any questions, feel free to ask us on our forums or in Hope Chat once you've registered, and you'll be sure to get a quick response. Our doors are always open and we look forward to meeting you. Whether it's in-game or on our forums, we'll be waiting!
