As Larial began to cough up blood Niilah grabbed a nearby cloth from her nightstand and dabbed it at her mouth attempting to wipe some of the blood away. She listened closely to her friend speak to her children, more than likely her last words to them. The one thing that took Niilah by surprise was a third child which she had never heard about. It was a obviously a very well-kept secret. She knew what she had to do for her friend, find her child and make sure she is safe. As Colt spoke Niilah closed her eyes, hearing his voice always had some sort of effect on her and when he made his declaration she glanced at him for a brief second before turning back to Larial. When he mentioned he would meet her outside the room she nodded again, never taking her eyes off of Larial. She had her own goodbyes to say.

“I…I didn’t think you would go before I did….You weren’t supposed to go before me” Niilah began in a whisper, clenching down on her jaw to stop herself from crying. “Why? Why couldn’t you tell me? We were supposed to tell each other everything.”

Niilah sighed before chuckling lightly a tear rolling down her face, “This is just like you though. Keep everything in until it’s too late.”

Slowly she lifted herself just enough so her forehead touched Larial’s and began thinking of the memories they had together, pushing them into her friends mind. Their first meeting, where she didn’t really like Larial all that much. Their first sparring match which they did in tradition to her people, the Echani. The long four years they didn’t see each other and the moment they came together again, both with children of their own. The battles they fought together and won hand and hand and everything that had happened until this very moment.

“Thank you for entering my life. Thank you for being a mother to my daughter and teaching her everything she knows when I could not. I will see you on the other side my friend, my sister” Niilah finished before planting a kiss upon her friends forehead. “You will be missed.”

Then turning from the room Niilah made her way to the hall where a new mission would begin. One she could not fail.

Khaalee watched the scene play out in front of her, her hand in Rhages. Her family was grieving and she could not help any of them, not one. As her father left the room she knew what he was up to and she knew that she would follow him. She refused to let her aunts dying wish to go unheard. Picking up her aunts hand that her mother held she kissed it once.

“I don’t know what I will do without you,” Khaalee sniffed holding back tears, her other hand still tightly in her husband’s hand. Glancing at Rhage’s face it was a reflection of her own, after all she was the first one to know of and accept him for who he was. “We will both miss you my master, my mother, my best friend. We both love you….rest easy my love.” Turning from her dying aunt she walked out to the hall where both her parents waited, Rhage in tow.

“Are you two okay?” Khaalee asked looking down at the ground, knowing the answered they’d both give her.

  2. Niilah sat on the floor behind the bar counter she was currently using as a shield to block her attackers blaster fire from coming in contact with her when her holo began to ring. It had been such a long time since someone called her that she tried to remember who would have frequency. With a quick glance over the bar she could see her comm lying next to one of the many attackers she had taken down. Then she counted the number of enemies left. There were two to her left, one to her right and one more approaching her hiding spot. She knew she had to think quickly if she wanted to get out of her current situation. On her she had her blaster, a vibroknife and her old lightsaber which she hadn’t used in so long she was more than certain she was out of practice with. Around her was nothing more than bottles, some in pieces and come completely intact.

Let me handle this. We have something we need to do.

“Like what?!?” Niilah replied out loud in a hushed voice.

Just do it and you’ll find out when I’m done with this mess.

With a sigh Niilah relinquished control of her body to her alter ego. It had taken sometime for the two to come to common ground but now that she did Niilah had no qualms about letting Raan take control every now and again. An onlooker wouldn’t tell the difference, her outward appearance did not change. It was in her voice and the look in her eyes that the change came, Raan having a higher pitch to her voice than Niilahs original voice and her eyes a blood red. Cracking her neck and letting out a low breath Raan smiled, “It feels good to be free again.”

Don’t get to comfortable. Just finish up quickly.

“Yeah I know, just watch and learn” Raan said with a smirk.

With another quick glance around Raan picked up her blaster and the closest bottle to her then rose to her feet, facing her four awaiting opponents. Each one of her attackers froze in their place.

“Shall we finish this gentlemen” Raan said with a smile before taking a long swig from the bottle she held in her hand.

“Whyrrens…ugh…” Raan spat with a groan before tossing the bottle at her closest opponent. As the man caught the bottle she shot with pinpoint accuracy, shattering the bottle causing it to burst into flames setting the man holding it ablaze. When the man’s screams filled the air Raan grinned widely before jumping on top of the counter. With one swift movement Raan pointed her blaster at the two on her left just as she pulled out her vibroknife with her other hand and threw it at the enemy on the right. When the man to the right dropped Raan shot twice causing the other two men to drop to the ground, leaving the blazing mans screams the only sound in the room. She watched him for a moment as he rolled around on the floor before she aimed her blaster and shot, silencing the room. Closing her eyes Raan gave Niilah control once more.

    Pick up the holo.

Niilah did as she was told, hopping from the bar and slowly walking to pick up her holo, “Thanks for the help” NIilah said with a chuckle.

    Listen to the message…….

Niilah was beginning to worry, Raan was usually emotionless now there was a seriousness to her tone. Ducking down she snatched her holo off the ground and played the message only to be surprised that it was her niece, Ciilah.

“Larial…..” was all that escaped Niilahs lips as the message ended.

It seems we have some goodbyes to say, Raan stated and Niilah could hear the sorrow in her voice.

“So it seems…..Let’s get going” Niilah replied as she made her way to the exit.

You should try to contact your children, they would want to know.

Nodding Niilah said no more and began making the necessary calls to her two children leaving a message for each of them she then called Gear as she exited the cantina.

“We’re headed to Alderran, prep the ship” Niilah said emotionless before ending the call, not waiting for Gears reply.

Are you okay? Raan asked her voice softer than usual.

“I’m fine” Niilah snapped as she made her way to her ship.

    If you say so…….

Khaalee spun around the room, quickly tossing different items into her bag. The news she got wasn’t what she expected and her mind was racing. What could have happened? What didn’t her aunt tell her? Why hide something so serious? In a chair in the corner of the room Rhage sat quietly watching his wife’s frantic actions. He could see the hurt and worry in her face and he wanted to help her but he had no idea what to do, everyone he loved was with him still alive. Death in his small family wasn’t something he had to deal with. Rising from his chair he walked over to Khaalee and stood in her way as she reached for her bag.

“I’m coming with you” Rhage said softly as he lifted her head to look down into her luminescent emerald eyes. Looking up at the large man Khaalee’s eyes began to fill with tears. She knew how much Rhage hated the planet and she knew he didn’t like to go there, for his own reason of course. For him to willingly go there was something very different.

“You don’t have to do that” Khaalee attempted to say only to have Rhage wrap his large arms around her in one swift movement.

“I will be your strength when you have none. I promise you that” Rhage declared planting a kiss on top of Khaalee’s head.

She nodded once, her face in his chest, “My mom will be there. You know how she could be” Khaalee said her voice muffled.

Rhage chuckled causing his body and Khaalee to vibrate, “I know and it seems I’ll have to deal with the witch when its time…..but I’m still coming” Rhage replied pulling Khaalee away just enough for her to look into his eyes and see his devotion. “Let’s get going.”

Khaalee nodded as Rhage released her. Snatching the bag off the bed Rhage with one hand he tossed the bag over her shuld and out put out his other hand. Placing her hand in his the two made their way out the door.

“Think bringing the criminal to a place like this was a good idea?” Niilah questioned through her teeth as the trio made their way into the medical facility where Larial was being kept.

“Are you speaking of Rhage or yourself mother?” Khaalee answered with a hiss before Rhage could answer himself.

“I guess your right” Niilah replied with a smirk just as she felt a familiar presence. Her smile quickly went from a grin to a frown and she began to listen to the thoughts of the people in the building, some were voices she knew, people she met before. This caused her to stop in her tracks.

You’re here to see your sister off, get it together, Raan barked in Niilahs head.

With a quick shake of her head they continued and made their way to Larials room. Outside her room stood a green skinned man which both women recognized as Kenlar, Larials first child. Khaalee was just about to release Rhages hand and great her cousin whom she hadn’t seen in ages when her mother put her hand up, blocking her path.

“He isn’t who he once was” Niilah stated staring blankly at the now grown Kenlar. “I never thought that you would come here after falling into darkness. Then again I didn’t think you’d become a sith either. We’ll have our words, until then watch your step” Niilah finished with a glare before turning to her daughter.

“Sith?” Khaalee questioned confused taking a step forward, “Kenlar what happened to you?”

“He’s lost but we didn’t come here for him……I’m going in” Niilah said as she walk to the door and opened it ignoring everything and everyone else once she saw Larial in bed. She faked a smile and greeted her dear friend, “You look like hell Lari” Niilah joked as she slowly made her way to Larials side.

  3. “That was ridiculous mother. I mean it was completely pointless.â€

Niilah turned to her daughter, who walked at her side and grinned widely. It was a grin that said, “I know it was and I really don’t care†which caused Khaalee to roll her eyes. Niilah had thought it a good idea for her daughter to take classes on etiquette from some of the noble woman of Alderaan. Simply so the girl would know proper manners and be able to socialize better with others nobles on the planet. The one rule the young girl had was that her mother join in on the classes as according to her they both need it. Niilah had made no qualms about going a long but she didn’t expect to be kicked out because her daughter couldn’t cope.

“You didn’t have to hit that lady with that plate though†Niilah said as she nudged Khaalee with her shoulder.

“I know….but she was really asking for it†Khaalee replied with a shrug. “Teru was in on this?â€

Niilah couldn’t help but let out a boisterous chuckle as she shook her head, “Of course not. You probably would have been able to talk him into letting you stay home.â€

Khaalee groaned but said nothing else as they neared the small home that once belonged to her aunt and uncle. Suddenly the young girls head perked up as she sensed someone nearby. Turning to look at her mother she spoke in a whisper, “Did you hear that?†Khaalee questioned curiously.  Niilah nodded once as she stopped in her tracks, the thoughts of the person near was something very familiar to her. Khaalee not so much. With a swift movement Khaalee pulled her lightsaber from her hip and ran towards the home, kicking the door open when she reached the door.

Khaalee looked around the room, lightsaber at the ready only to find a woman standing in the home. “Who are you?!? What are you doing here?!?†The young girl barked, her grip on her saber tightening.

Niilah came up behind her daughter quickly before she could engage in a fight. With gentle hands Niilah placed a hand on her daughters shoulder. “Easy love†Niilah said as she stepped around Khaalee to see who she was addressing. When she caught just a glimpse of the person her heart stopped.

“La….Larial? Is….is that you?†Niilah asked incredulously, her eyes narrowing to see well.

“Larial?†Khaalee questioned, looking to her mother.

Niilah couldn’t say anything she simply stood stalk stiff with her eyes bugging out of her head, waiting for an answer.
  4. Larial’s nonchalance caused a smile to spread across Niilah’s face and she chuckled softly. Even in the situation they were currently in her friends question made it feel as though they were sitting down in a cantina talking about the simpler issues in their lives. She thought it best to answer in the same fashion to keep the mood light. Still she kept her weapons at the ready, pointed at the two slaves that helped Larial up in case they tried something slick.
“Oh nothing girlie, Kenway and Colt are being boys as usual destroying the joint. I’m here to clean you up and take you back home, where you belong. Khaalee is waiting for our return.â€
The thought of her daughter caused her attitude to change and she quickly became serious. She had someone to get back to as soon as possible and she didn’t want to delay her return any longer than it had to be. The small girl was her world and she had to make sure her world kept spinning.
“Can you walk or shall I toss you on my back?†Niilah said pointing her blaster hand towards her back. “We need to get Kenlar and yourself away from this scene. I believe Colt and Kenway intend to blow this place to hell and I’d rather be on the ship when it happens.â€
  5. Niilah looked around at the chaotic scene for a brief moment before quickly glancing at Colt. There wasn’t time to chat, though there was still so much to say, and at Colt’s word’s Niilah pulled her lightsaber from the strap on her lower back and darted towards the room. The bounty hunter closes to her noticed her movement and fired twice at Niilah’s back as she moved ran towards the corridor on the left. Sensing danger Niilah jumped in the air and spun around, blocking both blaster shots before they made contact with her. Landing lightly on the balls of her feet she saw Colt fire at the bounty hunter who attempted to take her out. Confidently that the two men would be fine without her Niilah opened her mind as she ran, searching for Larial’s thoughts. Her friend’s mind was quiet and haggard causing a chill to run down Niilah’s spine. Larial had been put through the wire.

I can’t wait to burn this place to the ground, Raan stated as she felt the pain in Larial’s mind.

“You and me both†Niilah said out loud as she ran.

A left and then a right then another left and Niilah was standing just outside the slave quarters. Bursting in Niilah lifted her blaster and her lightsaber and pointed them both around the room.

“No one move a muscle if you want to breath†Niilah barked as she moved slowly towards Larial.

Kneeling down next to her friend who lay on a tiny slab of a bed Niilah spoke softly, “Hi love. Sorry we are late but we’re here now and we are getting you out of here.â€

Niilah wasn’t sure if Larial would be able to stand and she was prepared to carry her out if she had to.
  6. The walk to the Hutt’s palace was uneventful and although Niilah never been to Hutta she made a silent vow that she wouldn’t return to the disgusting planet if she could avoid it. As she walked she let her mind wander into the people around her. Most of the thoughts of the civilians were mundane like if they would get home to their family before dinner or wondering if the cantina was already full of patrons so they could get the seat they always sat in. When the group stopped outside the Hutt’s palace Niilah turned too looked up at the men beside her. She could feel Kenway’s rage vibrating off of him and she already knew where his thoughts were. Shaking her head she closed her eyes. Pinching the bridge of her nose with her index finger and thumb, she let out a soft sigh. As Colt requested his weapons Niilah opened her eyes and slowly retrieved one of his blaster from the holster on her right hip and the second where she placed it inside her jacket. Handing him the blasters she looked up at Colt for a moment before quickly turning and rushing behind Kenway.

“You shouldn’t be so hasty†Niilah urged as they neared the entrance.

Then as quickly as she finished her sentence her hand flew to the blaster that sat in the holster on her left hip. With quick reflexes she fired twice at the Gammorrean who stood on the left side of the entrance, hoping Kenway would get the one on the right before they moved forward.

Let’s get this party started, Ran chuckled happily in Niilah’s mind.
  7. (Going to edit when I get home)

Niilah stood in her room most of the trip to Hutta, sitting on the bed with her legs crossed, attempting to prepare herself for whatever was to come. It had been difficult for her to leave Khaalee but even more difficult to think of the possibility that she might not comeback with everything she left home with. How would she tell her daughter should her father or aunt Larial not return? What would Colt tell Khaalee if she didn’t return with the rest of them? Colt’s unpredictability is what really worried her and set her on edge. She knew he had a dark side that happened to appear at the worst possible times and make many situations worse than what they should be. She could only hope she would be able to cope with that side of him. Only time would tell.
Enough thinking….we’re here, Raan stated calmly.
Niilah rose to her feet and slowly made her way through the ship. Stopping in the lounge Niilah grabbed one of the many bottles of whiskey Colt had on his ship and poured a large glass. A drink would settle her nerves and get her in motion. Closing her eyes she downed the glass of whiskey without stopping before slamming the glass back on the table. Exhaling heavily she turned away from the table and made her way off the ship where Colt and Kenway stood. She stood at the top of the boarding ramp and watched the two cousins speak. As she watched Kenway the reality of the situation hit her. Niilah had never seen Kenway lose his composure or even raise his voice, this was a completely new Kenway. The Jedi Master looked terrible although that was to be expected given the current dilemma. It was still odd for Niilah to see though she couldn’t blame him. As Kenny’s comm unti went off and the Grand Master of the Jedi came over the line Niilah became a bit worried. She had never even seen the Grand Master before and now that she did she wasn’t sure she enjoyed her presence. As the conversation came to a close Niilah made her way down the ramp to stand next to Colt after giving Kenny a soft smile.
“Smooth hotshot, very smooth†Niilah said with a chuckle as she rolled her eyes at Colt. “I don’t like your plan but….it seems like the quickest way to go about this.â€
Walking behind Colt Niilah rubbed both her hands against his twin blaster before pulling them quickly from their holsters. She didn’t have enough storage on her to hold all his weapons but she removing his blasters seemed like a good start. Placing one of his blaster in her empty holster on her right hip and the second in the pocket inside her jacket she patted herself down.
“I’ll take these†Niilah said, grinning impishly. “Who would believe we captured you and didn’t disarm you? Not a soul. Now let’s see who was ballsy enough to take them.â€
“Please don’t be hasty love†Niilah whispered before she rubbed Colt’s back and walking around him and walking towards the exit of the hanger.
  8. Niilah blushed at Colt’s comment and watched as he finished preparing himself for whatever was to come. When he shuffled out of the room she went back to getting ready. She dressed in a simple white shirt and plain brown pants which she tucked into her knee-high black boots. When she was done she retrieved her blaster and lightsaber that sat hidden in the top drawer under her clothing. Satisfied with her preparations she snatched the comm unit off the dresser and went to check on Colt’s progress with Khaalee.

The small girl’s eyes fluttered open as she heard her father’s voice and smiled widely into her pillow at the mention of flying. Even though Khaalee had been on a ship three times in her very short life Colt seemed to have picked up on her love for ships. Sitting up she rubbed her eyes before brushing her blond hair out of her face, “Now?†Khaalee questioned with a yawn.

“Right now†Niilah replied from the doorway.

The small girl looked to her mother and nodded as she slide from the bed and took her fathers hand, “I’m ready†Khaalee said rubbing her eye again.

Niilah smiled as she looked down at her daughter and shook her head. “It doesn’t seem so, you might want to lose the Krayt dragon breath. It might kill Gear and Sanj when you talk to them†Niilah chuckled and pointed to a set of clothes that were already out on the table. “And real clothes will help keep your little behind warm.â€

Khaalee let go of her father’s hand and folded her arms tightly across her chest, clearly she wasn’t please with her mother’s comment. Niilah chuckled before she turned away from the pair, “Let’s hurry up.â€

With Gear and Sanj in the same sector it didn’t take long for the small family to reach their first destination. Niilah felt an uncomfortable conversation coming as she seen Gear and Sanj and as both her friends saw Colt holding her daughter. Sanj stopped a few feet away from the trio but said nothing as Gear closed the space between them. He nodded a hello to both Niilah and Colt before turning his attention to Khaalee. He opened his arms and waited for the small girl to lean into him.

“Hey blonde†Gear said with a bright smile poking Khaalee’s ribs with a finger. “Want to fly the ship?â€

Khaalee simply looked at the young man but didn’t move. Her heart skipped a beat at Gears question however. She turned to Colt, a grin on her face as she began wiggling to free herself from her fathers grasp. Suddenly Sanj was in motion and she quickly moved in front of Gear before gently scooped Khaalee out of Colt’s arms. Placing the small girl on the ground she smiled at Khaalee kneeling down to her level.

“You can fly once Aunt Sanj fixes your hair, how about that?†Sanj said softly still smiling. She didn’t bother to look at Niilah or Colt for fear of saying something she might regret in front of the little girl.

“I didn’t realize her hair was broken†Niilah stated sarcastically.

Sanj glance over her shoulder and sent an icy glare at Niilah and Colt and her voice leaked venom, “I didn’t realize you were back stepping†Sanj spat back before she walked off towards her room. We will talk when you come to get her…..

Niilah sighed as Sanj’s thought entered her mind and quickly glanced at Colt hoping he wasn’t affected by Sanj’s attitude before turning back to Gear.

“Okay she is allergic to akk dogs. She eats four times a day and should be in bed an hour after the sun sets. She hates to bathe but please try to keep her clean†Niilah paused for a minute as she let Gear process what she was saying. “She also doesn’t sleep much but when she does a bedtime story usually does the trick.â€

“Whoa whoa Blu I got this. I don’t need a list of do’s and don’ts. She will be fine…just make sure that you two are fine and in one piece when you get back†Gear said with a look of worry on his face.

Niilah nodded at Gear and knelt down as she took her daughter by the hands and stared into her emerald eyes. Khaalee stared back anxiously as she watched her mother then up at her father.

“Daddy and I will be right back. We are going to get Aunt Larial and little Kenny so you two can play†Niilah said with a sad smile. Niilah had never lied to her daughter and she wasn’t going to start now, it was the truth. She had also never been away from Khaalee for more than a few hours and even that was to long for her. This would be the first time she would be away from her for an extended period of time. “Uma ji muna and please don’t give anyone a hard time†Niilah said before wrapping her arms tightly around her daughter’s tiny frame. Rising to her feet Niilah turned for the exit hoping to get away before she changed her mind and decided to stay with the small girl.

Khaalee’s eyes began to fill with liquid and as usual she looked to Colt. “I want to go too†Khaalee said moving to stand by Colt’s side. “I want to go with you.â€
  9. Niilah slid off the bed as she gently took the comm unit from Colt and walked over to her large dresser where her clothes were held. For a moment she considered Colt’s choice in babysitters and chuckled. His father was definitely out of the question, Niilah nor Khaalee had ever met the man before so her trust in him was pretty much nonexistent. She didn’t know the man to enough to trust him with a blaster let alone hand her daughter over to him. The second choice is what made her laugh. She had met the beautiful ghost only once as well as seen her wrath only once and she knew that she would be fully capable of watching over Khaalee. The problem there would be the fact that well she was a ghost and Khaalee might be more alone then actually with someone, along with the fact that Khaalee had never met Tavalla. Niilah wasn’t completely sure that was the best idea.
“The force ghost would have been an interesting one†Niilah said as she placed the comm on the dresser waiting for Sanj to answer. “Maybe we can try that one day, you know for date night.â€
Another chuckle escaped her before the comm came to life and Gear was staring back at her. It had been a year since she seen both Sanj and Gear and she couldn’t help but smile at the young man. The year had been good to him, now at sixteen years old he was beginning to grow facial hair and his feature were changing just slightly. He still had his signature grease marks on his face and his reaction to see Niilah was completely different than her own.
“Oh whoa!†Gear shouted jumping back and covering his eyes with his forearm. “Where’s your pants lady?â€
Niilah looked down at her attire and notice she was only in a long shirt. She giggled lightly as she pulled at the shirt in an attempt to make it long.
“Nevermind that….where is Sanj?†Niilah said as she began digging through the drawers.
“Resting, we just finished this job in the Alderaan sector†Gear replied his eyes still covered.
“Great†Niilah said cutting the young man off before he said anything else. “I’ll be bringing Khaalee to you. I’ll call you when I’m in motion.â€
Before Gear could respond Niilah cut the connection and smiled nervously at Colt, “I’ll get ready, how about you dress your little angel when you’re ready.†
  10. Niilah grinned widely and pulled the blanket off her as she jumped out of bed and landed lightly beside Colt. Excitement struck her for a moment at the thought of doing one more job before truly settling down. It would be a great way for her to let loose one more time. Then the realization of the mission hit her and she instantly turned serious. This wouldn’t be fun and games but one of the most important jobs she would be a part of, she had to get her mind right. The one problem they did have, well she had at the moment was who to stash Khaalee with. Colt would have to go with or without her but Niilah preferred that it be the former rather than the ladder. Taking a seat back on the bed she thought about the people she trusted. With both her parents deceased there was only two people left she had any faith in. It would be a long shot, Niilah knew how she felt about Colt but she hoped her friend would pull through for her daughter. Folding her legs she brushed her hair behind her ear and put out her hand, “Give me your com….†Niilah said with a sigh, “Sanjuiichii and Gear could watch her and meet us on the way. Unless of course you don’t think that’s a good idea.â€

  11. Niilahs eyes snapped open as she heard Colt drag the box from under the bed. She knew exactly what it was for and was just about to protest when he gave her the news about Larial and Kenlar. Jolting into a sitting position she brushed her dark hair out of her face and stared at Colt. She knew that his first thought would be to go and look for them and honestly it would have been hers too. And then out came a comment that made her feel terrible and wonderful at the same time.

"If you want me to stay, I'll stay."

Colt's words hit her hard. Niilah pulled her knees up to her chest, the blanket still covering her bare legs. It wasn’t something she could answer so easily. She didn’t want him to leave for fear of getting injured or worse fear that he wouldn’t come back. Had it been anyone else she would have told him to stay. To keep himself out of the situation and let them continue with the lives as they were but it wasn’t. Kenway, Larial and Kenlar was their family which meant this kidnapping couldn’t just be swept under the rug. Faking a smile she watches Colt remove his weapons from the box.

“I-I would never ask you to do that….it’s almost like making you choose between Kenny or myself. Even though I wish you didn’t have to do this….†Niilah leaned back using her arms to keep herself upright, “…I’m behind you completely. Do you need some help? I know this woman who could be extremely helpful she has telepathy and all that.â€

Niilah smirked and wagged her eyebrows up and down hinting at her desire to go along.
  12. The past couple of weeks had been nothing but relaxing and since leaving Tython Niilah had gained a sense of ease and comfort where she currently was. She wasn’t constantly looking over her shoulder anymore or walking around completely armed in her own house. Niilah could hear Colt’s thoughts like she did in the past which gave her a lot of satisfaction. Khaalee was enjoying her father’s presence and her new home just as much as her mother was. Colt tended to her every need and he had become the one the small girl went to for whatever she wanted. Even Raan seemed pleased, not having said a word since they arrived on Alderran Niilah guessed it was because she was just as happy as the rest of them. Life was pretty great at the moment but Niilah knew that things wouldn’t continue like it currently was, there had to be a bump in the road soon. She was just waiting for it and she knew it was coming.
As she lay in the bed with her eyes closed she could hear Colt enter the room. She smiled for a moment before she picked up on something that was off. Something was wrong and she could feel it. She didn’t panic even though a small part of her was telling her to. What could have went wrong already? When she spoke her voice was soft, almost soothing.
“Did Khaallee give you a hard time?†Niilah asked rubbing the pillow she lay on. “We will have to find some stuff for her to do that exerts a lot more energy during the day.â€
  13. For a long moment Niilah sat on the floor with her head between her knees thinking of the conversation she had with Colt. It left her with a lot to think about and a big decision to make. Hours had past and still she wasn’t any clearer on what to do. On the one hand she did want him around and to be a major part in her daughters life. On the other hand, Colt had hurt Niilah quite a few times in the past and she wasn’t so sure she would be able to deal with anymore heartbreak.

The Larial thing…….it doesn’t count….,Raan said softly.Niilah lifted her head slowly and cocked her head to the side, “And why doesn’t it?†Niilah questions a hint of acid in her voice.

Raan was quiet for a moment before she let out a sigh, she knew Niilah had taken what she said the wrong way and quickly tried to recover from it.

What I meant was….well you and him weren’t really that much of an item at the time. So in my opinion you can’t put that in the “he hurt me category†is all I’m trying to say.

Niilah groaned before resting her head back against her knees. Raan was right but then again Niilah didn’t really hold much animosity towards Colt for that little incident. It was everything after that fact. She couldn’t trust him like she wanted to, like she had in the past at least not with her own pain. But maybe having Colt around will help with the pain her daughter may encounter in the future.

There is only one way to make this decision, you know that right, Raan stated a hint of humor in her voice.

Niilah nodded stiffly as she got to her feet and quietly slipped from the room, her bare feet tapping lightly against the cold ground as she made her way to get a bottle of whiskey and two large glasses. The entire time she moved through the ship she made sure Colt wasn’t in view of her and vice versa, she didn’t want to break his concentration. When she had what she needed Niilah headed back into the room where Khaalee slept. Once again she took a seat on the floor before crossing her legs and placing the bottle of whiskey as well as the two large glasses on the ground in front of her side by side.

Let’s start from the beginning…..Good and bad. Niilah sighed as she opened the bottle of whiskey and pour a small amount into the glass on the right.

“He left me alone….pregnant†Niilah stated dryly as she stared down at the glasses. It was the worst thing he had done to her.

True but he did come back to finish what he started, Raan replied and as she did Niilah poured a little whiskey into the glass on the left.

“He is a runner and there is a big possibility that he will leave again…†Niilah continued with the cons as she dropped a little more whiskey into the glass on the right.

He has a great love for Khaalee and he isn’t bad to look at, Raan chuckled lightly at the end of her statement but still Niilah poured some whiskey into the pro’s glass.

The two continued this game for most of the night, only stopping briefly when Khaalee moved in her sleep. By the end of the conversation both glasses were almost completely full leaving Niilah still very confused on what to do. Raan hadn’t spoken for an hour as she let Niilah think over her decision.

Absentmindedly Niilah picked up the con glass and slowly placed it to her lips when Raan shouted in her head so loud Niilah almost dropped the glass.

Wait….I have one more…Niilah shook her head, it was over and she didn’t want to hear it anymore yet still she place the glass back onto the ground.

You……you love him. That should be enough. No matter what he’s done or hasn’t done, you still are in love with him. Love makes people do crazy things, let this be one of those times. When was the last time we did something where we had no idea what the outcome was. Colt is just that, unpredictable. Give him one more shot, one more shot Blu and things will be well not great but better.

Niilah sighed and a tear rolled down her face. Raan had a way of giving her the truth without a filter and although a lot of the time it was annoying she appreciated it. Getting to her feet Niilah sat on the bed and watched her daughter sleep for a moment. Suddenly the door opened and Colt stepped in, "Why don't we get married?"

Niilah was taken aback by his question but she realized that with the question he had made his decision. She smiled softly as she turned to look at Colt, “I never thought you were the type of guy who wants to get married. Besides you’ve never asked me or I you†Niilah said with a chuckle. Slowly she rose to her feet and walked over to Colt placing her hand on his chest directly over his heart.

Looking into his emerald eyes she spoke softly yet the victory in her voice was clear, “I would love to but how about we start with breakfast….you know baby steps love.â€

  14. Niilah was shocked, speechless and slightly annoyed as she heard Colt state his case. It all seemed like everything she ever wanted. A home, a family and a simple life without worries where her daughter can grow and be happy but could she really have that. Could Colt be the one to give her that? After all they’ve been through could it just be as easy as picking up and leaving.

It could….if you let it. His words ring true from what I can tell.

“You thought that last time†she whispered. Niilah shook her head furiously trying to shaking the thoughts from her head so she could think clearly. Lifting her hand she held the credit chip between her thumb and index finger before glancing at Colt. Sucking in a deep breath Niilah closed her eyes before exhaling and opening her eyes once more. When she spoke her voice was soft and calm, her eyes on Colt’s face.

“So what you’re saying is you want me to pick up and leave to become your designated housewife? Cook your meals and clean your clothes and watch Khaallee? One big happy family…living a simple life huh†Niilah smirked for a second at her statement before she continued. “Do you really think you could do that? I’ve been doing it for three years now but can you have a seat for once and breathe?â€

Niilah paused before leaning down to look directly into Colt’s eyes, “I think we both need to think this over. I do want you to be in her life and even though its hard to admit it…..I would want you in my life as well. But as always things don’t depend on me, they never have it’s all you.â€

Rising to her feet she turned towards Kenways room, “I’m not so sure if this is what you really want or if it’s just something you feel you need to do to make amends. But maybe you should think about what you’re saying and I’ll consider your offer, if you come to the conclusion that this is what you really want.†Niilah shrugged and smiled softly at Colt, “And should you change your mind well we are already doing that so it wouldn’t be much of a change.â€

“It would be funny to see you with a beard blonde†Niialh stated with a chuckle as she moved towards the room where Khaallee slept.

“Think about what you’re asking me to do and what you should be expecting of yourself."

Quietly she moved into the room where she took a seat on the ground next to the bed and let out a sigh.

    Quite a day…..
  15. Niilah listened from the inside for a moment and realized it wasn’t as hard as she thought it would be. It was time to face the music and she had a few things to say for herself.

    Switch, Niilah commanded.

With a sigh Raan closed her eyes and although Colt wouldn’t realize it Niilah took control of her body once more. Slowly she opened her eyes and took a few steps away from Colt worried she wouldn’t have the same self-control as Raan. Looking in the direction of Kenway’s quarters Niilah sucked in a deep breath.

I wasn’t done you know, Raan said almost whining.

Ignoring the comment Niilah looked back to Colt, “Mom and Dad and a nice house on a nice planet†Niilah repeated slowly. “Are you living in a dream? Because that’s what that is. There is no way to accomplish this so-called job you seem to think you can do. You have no idea what something like that takes, you think it can be done on a whim?â€

Niilah paused and then glared at Colt, “And what do you mean nice house, my house is just fine†Niilah added.

  16. Slowly Raan stepped forward a smirk on her face as she leaned against the holoterminal. “I doubt it’s your greatest regret. I’m sure you can think of something else†she said quietly as she crossed her legs. With all of the problems and trouble he had gotten in and out of even Raan didn’t want Colt and Niilah’s issue to keep hindering either one of them.

You’re stepping over the line…hurry it up, Niilah growled.

Ignoring the statement Raan continued, “but thank you, we’ve kept her in good hands.â€

Niilahh heard the slip up but Raan continued on without a worry. “Not many people around to hand out compliments†she said before pausing a moment and looking into Colt eyes. “I never thought the day would come when I would see you again. I have thought about what I would say to you if we ever did but now that you’re here and you ask to be a part of Khaallee’s life I only have one question. Do you think you deserve to be in her life?â€
  17. Niilah sighed as she heard Colt’s voice come through the comm. “Another time…†Niilah repeated in a low voice. His famous words seemed to always come up.

She didn’t bother to remove her comm from her pocket she didn’t have much to say anymore. Every time she tried to speak to Colt rage, sadness or complete emptiness came out in her words. It was best to stay away from him as much as possible. If it didn’t concern the child they had together she didn’t have anything else to say.

I thought we were over this situation, Raan said with a grumble.

“I am over it†Niilah replied with a growl. Her voice came out a bit more aggressive than intended so when she spoke again she tried to sound as calm as possible. “It doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt still.â€

Raan was quiet for a long moment before she spoke again, her voice soft but rang loudly.

    Allow….allow me go….

Niilah sat up at Raan words, her back rubbing against the bark of the tree. “Why would I let you do that?â€

You’ve never let me speak to him. He has no idea about me. I think it’s time for me to have a conversation with him.

Niilah was conflicted. Although she would love to see what Raan would say to Colt, the thought of sitting in the space that Raan sat in constantly made her a bit scared.

Don’t be selfish, Raan said softly.

With a sigh Niilah relinquished her body to her doppelganger allowing her other personality to control her body. Niilah was dropped into the lake which she hated as Raan ran the show.

Rising to her feet Raan dusted herself off and stretched. “Feels good to be out†she said as she touched her toes. Her voice was softer than Niilah’s in a physical form and it was obvious that she had been taken over.

Don’t get carried away….and hurry up. I’m not giving you that much time, Niilah’s voice was calm yet Raan could hear a slight hint of fear.

“I’ve seen your past….I will not betray you again. As long as you let me free every now and again†Raan said with a chuckle as she made her way towards the ship and up the boarding ramp. It wasn’t hard to find Colt and when she did she couldn’t help but grin widely. Leaning against the wall she folded her arms over her chest completely relaxed, attempting to pass off as Niilah.

He will figure it out, Niilah stated with a chuckle.

“We shall see†Raan mumbled before speaking to Colt. “How are you holding up?â€
  18. When Larial entered the home Niilah expected her friend to in better spirits then she currently was. Instead she came in bawling and went straight to Kenway. In that very moment Niilah was grateful that Kenlar was sleeping, she didn’t want the little boy to see his mother in the state she was in. Niilah placed her hands on the table before she rose to her feet and headed towards the back to escape out the backdoor. On her way out she grabbed her cloak and headed into the rain, which had now become nothing more than a drizzle. Niilah walked slowly, following her daughters thoughts through the forest. She wondered what had gone wrong in the conversation between Larial and Colt.

Don’t worry about them. The questions is what are you going to do?, Raan questioned in a rough voice.

“About what?†Niilah said speaking out loud as she continued to walk.

This situation…..Colt…Khaallee….Larial. As always you get us into the worst situations and never have a plan to clean this crap up.

“So now you and I are one person?†Niilah questioned with a chuckle.

Niilah could hear Raan chuckle along with her, Remember what Sanjuiichii said we are in fact the same person just two completely different sides. Besides….I….I’ve grown slightly accustom to you. Nothing big….do not get carried away. Anyway do you have a plan?

“I’m not going to do anything. Khaallee will stay with me, she is mine after all. I will raise her to the best of my ability. Kenway and Larial and little Kenny will be on their way soon, not so sure they would want to stay here. When the opportunity arises to see each other again we will take it. I do hope I live to see the two of them as adults†Niilah paused and smiled at the thought before she continued. “And Colt….well you hear him better than I do, so you should know his next move, although I’m pretty sure I could predict that even without hearing his thoughts.â€

I thought your ability was telepathy and here you are rambling off like its foresight, Raan barked causing Niilahs ears to ring.

Another chuckle escaped her as she placed her cloak on the ground next to the tree she leaning on and took a seat on top of it.

Not going in? Raan asked quietly.

    “Nope†Niilah replied calmly.

    Going to wait all night?

“It looks that way†Niilah said pressing her back against the trunk of the tree.

We’re going to get sick, Raan said with a sigh.

“It looks that way†Niilah repeated a smile on her face.
  19. Niilah nodded slowly and turned away from Kenway to look out the window.

"We shall see my friend, we shall see" Niilah said slowly. "He won't catch me off guard this time. I'll be ready."

Niilah had no idea what else to say so she sat in her seat quietly for a moment before she began pushing her mind out towards her daughter. The shared gift between mother and daughter made it easy for the two to communicate with each other mentally. Niilah could tell Khaallee was still awake and she could see that her daughter was sifting through thoughts in Larial's mind. She chuckled before she begun shoving images into Khaallee's mind, distracting the small girl from her task.

Khaallee stiffened in bed as she felt Niilah touch her mind before she let out a giggle. She thought she had treaded lightly in Larial's mind but her mother constantly seemed to be searching for her own thoughts. The little girl knew she would be in trouble had her mother been in front of her and quickly relaxed and slipped from Larial's mind. Shutting her eyes the little girl watched the images scroll through her mind as her mother began giving her a bedtime story of her own.

  20. Khaallee nodded once and yawned loudly before turning away from Colt to head back to bed.
"I'm going to fight the bad guy when I get big" the girl said with confidence as she moved down the hall. "And I'm going to have a pretty friend too."
Before entering the room Khaallee turned her head lazily back towards Colt's direction, "I'm still thirsty" the little girl said before making her way into the room and crawling into the bed. She didn't go to sleep immediately after getting into bed and laid there quietly in the room, letting her mind wander. She was in the room before Larial entered the ship but the woman’s mind still entered the little girls mind.

Niilah chuckled as she poured another glass of whiskey and then got to her feet. “I could care less if Colt and I never see eye to eye on a personal level. My main concern is that little girl that seems to take to him like a bantha to water†Niilah said softly before looking Kenway in the eyes. “He is a slippery creature, he will eventually deceive her. The moment he even thinks of such a thing…..I will kill him!â€
Although Niilah spoke softly the conviction in her voice was solid as if she was shouting. “He left me broken but with something I can now cherish and nurture. I will not allow him to break her in anyway. If he assumes that coming back here would help him become someone he doesn’t want to be, he was wrong. He needs to figure out who he is before he attempts to be anything to anyone. My job is to keep her safe but how am I supposed to keep her safe from someone like him when she is already so attached to him. I was doing fine for her without him.â€
Niilah took a sip of her drink before taking a seat once again. “I’m sorry….I didn’t mean to ramble†Niilah said with a grin.
  21. Niilah sucked in a deep breath before exhaling sharply as she traced her index finger around the rim of her glass. She was very aware of Colt’s weapons in her room but as she said she wouldn’t allow anyone to be armed. The weapons would sit comfortably atop her bed until this situation began to become resolved.  Two people like Larial and Colt didn’t need weapons for a friendly chat. Larial had an ever looming dark side that crave destruction and constantly attempted to seize control of her. Colt had a knack for acting without thinking and a trigger finger with a mind of its own. The thought of Larial and Colt fighting made a shiver run down Niilah’s spine. It was best to avoid it any way possible.

I’m sure everything will go smoothly……I think, Raan’s words were meant to sooth her but they only made her more nervous.

“I know he did, he can have them back when he is ready to leave†Niilah said softly still looking down at her glass. “If he doesn’t walk through that door with my daughter, I’ll be in need them more than him. However it would be best to remove Larial’s lightsaber from her as well.â€

Niilah paused for a moment and sighed before looking up at Kenway. There were a few questions that she hoped Kenway could answer for her and even if he couldn’t she hoped he would led her to an answer.

“Kenny….I’m glad to see you†Niilah started with a smile, “I only half expected you to be with Larial but what I didn’t expect was for him to come here. Do you know why? Why would he want to complicate his life, my life and my daughter’s life now?â€

Kenway could see the confusion and sadness in Niilah’s eyes, as she watched him. “I’m sure…..no….I’m positive he could have slipped from imperial prison and continued on his way. Yet he comes here. Why?â€

Lifting her drink from the table Niilah down it in one gulp and then slammed it back onto the table. “I just don’t understand him….I don’t think he understands himself….â€

Khaallee slipped from the bed and slowly made her way through the ship until she found Colt. She stood quietly behind her father, rubbing her eyes with her right hand, still obviously tired. She stretched her tiny body as she yawned and then placed her head against the wall.

“Mi yarga†Khaallee said before she lifted her arm to point at the holoterminal. “Who that?â€
  22. Khaallee was almost completely asleep when Colt stopped telling his story but the second he did her eyes fluttered open and she turned slightly to stare at her father. The small girl’s eyes were bloodshot red, causing her emerald green eyes to stand out more. Her cheek stood pressed against the pillow. She was too tired to lift her head and so her eyes probed Colt’s face, watching him closely
“Okay but don’t leave me†the little girl said softly her eyelids growing heavy. “I wanna stay with you.â€
Only a second past before the little girl’s eyelids dropped and she her tiny body relaxed.

Niilah watched Larial leave the house and for a second she thought about following her but after a moment of contemplation she figured her friend needed to be alone. Placing her drink on the table she waited quietly trying to guess how this conversation might work out.
  23. Khaallee smiled at her father’s remark but didn’t lift her head from his shoulder as they moved through the ship. “Me too†Khaallee said with another yawn.
The little girl was drained of energy but was doing her best to keep her eyes open to see the ship. It wasn’t working and she barely noticed when Colt placed her on the bed. Eventually the small girl caught up to what her father was planning. With one swift movement she was on her feet, standing on the bed with her arms crossed tightly over her chest.
“I’m not tired†Khaallee snapped, her eyes narrowing.
At first she was going to reject his offer but then as she placed her index finger to her chin she began to wonder what story he might tell her. Curiosity won out over her stubbornness and she threw herself back onto the bed.
“Tell me you favorite one and rub my back†Khaallee said as she turned over onto her stomach.

Niilah looked to Kenway and then back to Larial as she pour three glasses of whiskey, “Let’s hope not that would be very unfortunate. I…we need him†Niilah corrected herself as she past the drinks two of them a glass, her eyes low.
“Everyone will be unarmed†she followed up with quickly.
  24. Khaallee stared into her father’s eyes until he made her the promise that she was waiting for. When she was satisfied with his answer she slowly rested her chin back onto his shoulder before wrapping her arms back around his neck and cuddling into his neck. The small child had never been on a ship before and although she wanted to run free and explore it was, as her father said, late. She yawned loudly and rubbed her eyes but she nodded anyway.
“No…†Khaallee said with another yawn into Colt’s neck. “I’m not tired, wanna see the ship daddy. I wanna stay with you.â€
As if to prove her point the small child wrapped her arms around Colt’s neck tighter, keeping him as close as physically possible. Suddenly Larial’s message to Colt entered her mind and Khaallee perked up before looking at her father.

“You always in trouble daddy†the small girl said with a yawn before giving her father one of his famous smirks. “Auntie Lari gonna get you.â€

When the pair made it back into the house they went straight to Niilah’s room, first to change Larial’s wet clothes and then for Niilah to begin the healing the process for Larial’s wound. For a moment they were quiet, Niilah could tell her sense of style wasn’t the same as Larial. Niilah after all wasn’t a Jedi. “Sorry if they don’t fit comfortably†Niilah said as she placed her hands over Larial’s wound to begin healing her. It had been quite a long time since Niilah had fought someone but healing was become second nature to her, mainly because she now had Khaallee to look after. When Larial pushed her message into Colt’s mind Niilah heard it loud and clear and she couldn’t help but agree with a silent nod. As she finished healing Larial and her friend mentions drinks Niilah’s face lit up, she was waiting for Larial to begin the stiff drinks.
“I have two bottles, no need to go to your ship. There is a lot that needs to come out and a drink will help with that†Niilah said as she made her way to the kitchen behind Larial. “I can give you two some……alone time. Should you want to talk to him alone..â€
  25. Khaallee continued to cry softly into Colt’s neck as they stepped into the airlock and began the decontamination process. As the process started and the water sprayed the pair the small girl gripped her father tighter around the neck, still shaking her head slowly. She was still trying to figure out what she saw in the memories that played in her head. As Colt spoke softly the little girl raised her head from Colt’s shoulder and stared her father in the eyes. Streaks of tears marked her face and red rings formed around her eyes as she tried to form words.

“Neva?†Khaallee questioned as she wiped one side of her face with her hand. “Promises?â€
The little girl’s eyes never left her father’s face, as if she wanted to be sure he telling the truth.

“I did…..and she did†Niilah said softly as she wrapped her arms around Larial as they stood in front of the pyre. “And we will fix this problem when the little ones are in bed.â€
Gently Niilah pulled Larial closer to the fire so she could examine her friends wound, just as Larial’s memories ceased. The wound would be an easy one to mend when they got back in the house.
“The cut isn’t a deep one. I will patch you up, let’s get back inside and out of the rain†Niilah paused for a moment before looking into Larial’s eyes. “I’m sure I have something dry and warm for you to change into. As for the conversation with Colt…..well I believe it’s needed, all around.â€

Niilah was worried about that particular conversation but it had to be done. With Larial and Colt coming back into her life at the same time they would be seeing a lot of each other. They needed to remove the tension that was thick between the two. With her arm wrapped around Larial’s shoulder she led the way back to the house as the fire burned behind them.
