My only concern with the Dresden files is that there are 15 books, do we just read one or have an ongoing read of the series together with another book added every couple months?.. just a thought 😊

Kinda my thoughts too. I haven't checked, but there may be other works of his.

Also, almost forgot about the book that spawned the Witcher series: The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski. That may be of interest for some. :)

  2. I like the idea of reading a book as a group. I've read the Lord of the Rings books a couple times and not really up for reading them again at the moment (my mood is better fitted by a sci-fi or modern universe right now).

Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series is great and I'm looking forward to the next book, I think there are 15 in the series now. :)

I have a few older authors I could include in the list, but their styles or content can be jarring for some people. All works by PKD are interesting, but his style and the anachronisms of when he wrote make them hard to read for some. Similar with the Robert E. Howard and his works, they are amazing reads, but there are some things in them like racism, sexism, and some sexual assault that make his works hard to read, or reread in my case, as they were written in the 1930's. I'd still recommend people read them, but I don't think they would work for group reads.

Has anyone read the "Deed of Paksennarion" series by Elizabeth Moon? I've only recently found out about her books, and I am completely in love with them! I've never been one for reading about military anything, but I have really enjoyed reading the story of Paksennarion ("Paks" for short) and her epic adventure in joining a mercenary company. The books are far more than just her time spent in the mercenaries army, though. The books encompass her entire life. I am truly baffled at how Elizabeth Moon managed to tell all these various tales of Paks' life, without it being pedantic.

Have any of you read this series? :)

Haven't heard of it, but sounds interesting. Added it to my Amazon wish list. :)

Before that, another highly recommended series, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher (15 books so far) which starts with Storm Front.

Waiting on new Dresden File books and the next Game of Thrones book in about 25 years. 😕
