Evan The Bold

Hey, I'm Evan!  Or Sheppard works too, since my account id in game is esheppard19... I didn't really think that through when I signed up! 

I'm 32 and live in Pittsburgh in a little city house with my wife.  No kids yet, but I'll tell you all about my house like it's my kid if you're interested.  We've been fixing it up and enjoying the challenge.  Right now I'm slowly finishing a stone patio in our back yard.  I'm an environmental scientist, so I travel for field surveys sometimes which is really awesome, but usually I'm just in an office like everyone else.

I've been gaming all my life, I can remember playing Lemmings on my parents' first computer, one of those DOS games on floppy disks!  I also remember having a floppy disk with a demo to a top-down RPG game and I was so into it that I got my mom to help me send a letter to the author with $5 in it and he mailed me back the code to unlock the rest of the game. lol!  Things sure have changed since then!

Hobbies beside video games: board games! cooking thai and indian food, making fancy cocktails, camping, mountain biking, and working on my house.  

Video gaming wise, I swing between strategy games and RPGs.  My latest love was Witcher 3.  Possibly the best game I've ever played.  But over the years I've also loved Civilization and the Total War series.  I also just finished a kick of heavily modding Skyrim, which was a hoot.  I tried Eve Online recently too, and the game totally defeated me.  I've never encountered a more complicated game before! I gave it a good hard try though.  

Another fun old game was Anarchy Online - did anyone else play that back in the day?  That was my first MMO, and I played in college so 2005 probably.  I remember the gear and power-gaming system being really intense.  You'd have 'twinks', which were low level characters for tower defense that you crammed way over-leveled gear into by getting huge buffs from your friends.  

But actually the MMO I played the longest was a text-based role play browser game called Battlemaster.  Played for like 8 years.  Each player was a member of the nobility in a light-fantasy medieval world.  We had whole player-created religions going and military hierarchies... I remember writing tons of military reports in-character as we tried to hold back the monsters from our borders.   It was pretty immersive!  And that was my only role-play experience until about two years ago when my RL friends decided to start a tabletop RP group.
