  1. Character Name: Daedric "Dae" Factotum

    Age: 3

    Race: Gythosian Factotum*

    Alliance: none

    Home Region/Town:

Character Background: Gythos had spent just north of a decade on the hunt for the tools, rituals, and resources needed to complete his own automaton army.  The plan, as it were, was simple enough: Forge a new host to be the primary controller for his army, house the souls to power that army inside it, and then control the new arm from within. The actual tasks, however, had required magics he'd not even known were possible. But this was meant to be the day his sacrifices became worth it.

What he hadn't expected, couldn't have expected, was that the same ruins he'd chosen to be the birthplace of his new creation was the same place a small group of Mages' guild explorers had come to begin their expedition. Since all of the worm cult he'd brought for the ritual had been consumed by it, Gythos had found himself alone and facing down a number of talented mages. As a result, he was forced to flee, leaving his incomplete project behind.

Of course, these mages had no way of knowing the golden factotum was created by Gythos and not the Dwemer as the rest of the ruins had been. And so they set about the final stages of assembly for the mechanical body, inadvertently completing the process.

Afterwards the mages took the confused and obviously intelligent construct back to the guild. Over the weeks, the new arrival showed itself adept at conjuration magic, and even summoned for a daedra for "friendship". It was this that resulted in the mages realizing this construct was unusual. As a result, they dubbed it a "Daedric Factotum" - and those closest simply started calling him "Dae".

    Skills/Profession: Used: 30 | Available: 1

Blacksmithing 1 (1) | In the early days of his tenure with the Mage's guild, Dae's lack of requirement to sleep often led him to taking resting members with questions and hope for companionship. He was told to "get a hobby" and leave them be. Since he wanted to effect his own repairs so as not to bother the mages, he's decided Blacksmithing was a good use of his time.

Dwemerologist 2 (2) | Whether man or mer, many mages make the easy mistake of thinking Dae has some special insight or connection with the machines his creator had based him on. As a result, he was included on a few research assignments. As a result, his knowledge of the ancient technologies of the Dwemer has come to match those expectations.

Intimidate 1 (1) | Though normally quite friendly, Dae's appearance - cold metal on a large humanoid frame, can be unsettling at times.

Lockpicking 2 (2) | Much like blacksmithing, lockpicking started off as a simple hobby - a way to entertain his hands and mine while sitting idly by. Unlike blacksmithing, though, the art could be practiced at almost any point and Dae found himself improving well as he moved along.

Absent-Minded | Despite being both intelligent and competent, Dae has only experienced the world of nirn for a few summers. As a result he can be distractible - sometimes even losing a still in the midst of casting it.
Infertile | Due to his inorganic origins, Dae cannot reproduce naturally. The secrets of his creation lie only with his creation, and without them he is a creature unique and alone.
Mind Control | Unlike most in the world, Dae is fully himself, however he was also created with a purpose. The doorways to his very soul are known to Gythos and that leaves a vulnerability that can never be fully corrected.
Enemy | Though Dae had no choice in his freedom, that hasn't spared him from his creator's disdain. There's little doubt the darkness that created him hunts Dae still.
Diabolical Sire | Gythos spent years of his life researching and sacrificing (often times others). The blood and darkness he used to create the first factotum is nothing compared to what he'll do to get it back.

    Racial Note:

A Gythosian Factotum (Factotum created by the Shadow Mage Gythos in the second era, through a series of arcane and horrific rituals) are a bastardization of the works of the Dwemer and Sotha Sil in an attempt to gain an immortal army of loyal soldiers. These machines claim little identity from the souls merged in their birthing, but do retain some understanding of the magics and tools used to create them.

    Flaws:

    1.     Bounty Undead are not often welcome in cities, and the necromancer who conjured them are often less so. As a result, Death-Walks-Here finds his portrait attached to many wanted posters throughout Tamriel.

    2.     Idealist | Despite years of persecution and personal loss, this Argonian refuses to forget all the good his magic has done for Nirn. He still openly discusses this with anyone who will listen and believes with all his heart it’s just a misunderstanding that causes people to mistrust him.

    3.     Overambitious Necromancy has earned the mistrust of the people, and yet Death sees a day when the world will embrace it, and him, as stalwart heroes welcome in any place.

    4.     Smart AssGood intentions only go so far, and as sharp as his sword may be his tongue is even sharper. The years of misplaced (in his view) disdain have given this wet scaled warrior more aggression than passiveness.

    5.     Fire Vulnerability (Moderate) | You have little to no natural resistance to fire and catch fire easily. Mandatory for Order, Quarra, Berne, Aundae, Whet-Fang, Children of Coldharbour.

    6.     Silver Vulnerability (Moderate) | You are weakened by silver or silver augmented weapons or restraints. Mandatory for all vampire strains.

    7.     Weakened by the Sun | You can go in the sun, but you lose the ability to use your vampiric powers and have your normal strength and magicka reduced by 50%. You also recover from injuries extremely slowly. Mandatory for Volkhar, Children of Coldharbour.
