  1. Unfortunately I've had to cancel the Tuesday night game due to too many scheduling issues, and I have since recommitted to a previous engagement that I had put on hold for the Tuesday Night game.

That said, there's been a couple requests for a Saturday night game, so I'll be looking to set one up starting in April; I'll have that post up end of next week. And new players are always welcomed at my table.

  2. Roll 20 invite link is up https://app.roll20.net/join/12569254/LbtDTg

Once you accept the link I strongly recommend logging into the game and immediately go into the settings (cogwheel upper right hand corner), under Audio/Visual tab set the "Others can hear or see" and "I can hear or see" and set both of those to NONE (we will use RoH's Discord for voice chat).

    Confirmed players: @Eyequ, @Helleboros, and @Kingtom225

Still have up to three open slots, @Esse_Veritas if you want one, or any others who are lurking.

There are blank character sheets ready to go. Experienced players you can go ahead take one and create a level 2 character. Newbies, we'll walk you through character creation as part of our Session Zero.

For those not familiar what Session Zero is, it is the discussion before launching a new campaign where the group lays out the foundations of game expectations. In this discussion we will go over game story and setting, campaign tone, character creation, house rules (if any), and the social contract.

I'll pop in whichever open Discord channel 15 minutes before the session start. In the meantime, any questions, feel free to message me.

Unfortunately it's right in the timeslot I am usually playing SWTOR with IRL friends once a week.  I might talk to them about rescheduling for a bit, but for now I'm assuming I won't join.  I'll definitely keep an eye out for future campaigns!

Yeah, no need to reschedule your IRL friends. After some private discussions and another post here, looks like I'll be running another game in April in a different time slot.

Discussing the schedule with the hubs and I'll get back with you. I'm very interested...but VERY new. Think I had a ranger built back in college. All I remember was a lot of dexterity and a 20 sided dice. If I'll slow down the group, please pass me by and I can try to find a beginners group.

Don't worry about being new. I know at least one who already signed up is brand new too. These are easy low-level adventures, very newbie friendly.

And just to keep from double posting. @Hamfast58, @Eyequ, and @Helleboros. Seems I forgot to add the story summary. So I've edited it into the OP but I'll also copy/paste it here so y'all know what story you're signing up for:

Adventure Premise: Candlekeep, the famous library-fortress that stands proud as a bastion of enlightenment and knowledge on the Sword Coast. It houses a magnificent collection of books and scrolls of lore, considered the greatest collection of the writings in all of Faerun. However, sometimes the acquisition of these books, or the magical nature of some books, or just the simple possession of these books, can cause problems the Avowed (the librarians) are just not equipped to handle. And while adventurers who've come to the keep have often "handled" issues the emanate from such a massive collection of knowledge, they tend to be unreliable.  So in an unprecedented move, the Avowed have decided, on a trial basis, to see if having their own in-house adventurers will help expedite the resolution of any crisis.  You, the players, will be the first to test and serve as Candlekeep's "Maintenance Crew".

I'm interested in playing as well.

Would it be possible to work on a potential character ahead of time so there's an opportunity to create a bit of personality and story for them with GM approval?

    I'd love to start as a newbie/beginner.

If you want to, sure. Just know backstory won't have much of an impact on such a short adventure, so don't go and create something like a 10k word novella.

  6. All right, lets give this a go.

Game Title: Candlekeep Mysteries. We'll be playing through three of the low-level adventures narratively combined into a seemingly (hopefully) singular smooth adventure.

    System: D&D 5e

Software: Roll20 (will provide game link once group is filled out).

Schedule: Tuesday Nights 9pm EST - Midnight for 4-5 weeks.
Session Zero & Adventure Start: March 1st, 2022

Character Creation Sources: Any OFFICIALLY published sources

Looking for 3-6 adventurers. If there are more than 6 players interested, I'll run the adventure again with a new group in April. So if the group looks full, still post that you're interested.

My name is Mal, and while I've only been with RoH for three months, I've been DM'ing since middle school, way back in the 90's, with Advanced D&D 2e. Pre-pandemic, I was also a local area Adventures' League DM, and a frequent DM for the local TTRPG cons (even did PAX Unplugged one year), so am I very experienced in taking a table of random strangers and running them through an adventure while making sure everyone is having a good time.

My table is open to those of all levels of experience. I enjoy teaching new players the game while also challenging experienced players, and yes, you can absolutely do both at the same time. My games tend to be more on the light-hearted side with PG-13 humor. And while I generally stick to RAW, I am not above letting some "Rule of Cool" happen.

If you're interested in joining, please post below. Any questions, feel free to ask.
