  1. New Arrivals Listen Up:

Tallon's Helpful hints for level 1-15.

    1. South or South East Beaches are best for first spawns.  Warmer and Not in Swamp.  Beaches are safest.
    2. E makes you collect things.  I is for looking at inventory.  F is for looking in other things/people inventory.
    3. Make stone pick, stone axe and fire first.
    4. Thatch Hut will save you when darkness comes.
    5. Black Berries are for the Dinos not survivors.  Makes them very Happy.
    6. Hear a roar, run. Hear trees crash, walk. Hear a rustling and dino cry, RUN faster than friends or dodos around you.
    7. Engrams are learned each level.  Get the tools, weapons and armor first.  Mortor/Pestal and thatch hut next.
    8. Get ready to rumble and tame a dino.  Trike or Stego are good first dino.  Try a dodo if want to test it.

  7. Update!!! Get dinos indoors...the dodo zombies are coming!!!!  .

This Wednesday on 28th of October the ARK will be undergoing a brief seasonal change where the air becomes cooler, the days shorter & the nights longer, the moon a certain shade of red, bats and other nasty creatures appearing above-ground, carvable pumpkins sprouting up, rumors of powerful undead beasts roaming the land -- and emerging from the mists, the mythical Dodorex makes its appearance at last astride an army of bloodthirsty zombie Dodos, with limited edition treats for those Survivors brave enough to take on the many tricks of ARK: Fear Evolved!

Seriously the bats are what concerns me.  Any one ever fight one?  Hope they do not come out in mass...

  8. as I understand it its a known issue. I think they have said leaving the area and coming back ( far enough out that the system needs to redo the objects) or fast traveling fixes it.

THANK You :)  Will try that :)

  9. Question on babies.  Last night our two trikes had an egg.  But could not seem to pick it up.  The poor thing was hot and finally over heated.  Is there a timer on them for picking up?  Eggbert was a good egg for the time we had it.

  10. I'm really confused at to what I'm seeing here.. Dino's butt? And is that a tavern? 0_o

Tthat is a T-Rex on a raft, stuck into an iceberg.... aka Scoobs was driving and Tayte was navigating.... They might have just left a tavern or something.

  11. Wolf quickly dispatched the raptor but the battle was a bloody one.  The young rex fought with the vigor of youth and the raptor with the anger of an alpha.  The ground shook and the roars filled the air.  I did not back down from protecting Tel as the two tore and snapped at each other.

Finally the rex was named victor as he stood over the raptor and devoured his foe.  I was able to relax a bit and turn my attention to Tel.  He was bruised but seemingly ok.  Wolf when able, took Tel up on the rex and we headed back to camp.  A good meal and rest, Tel was ready to head out the next morning.  He had a vengeful air about him and the need to replace his precious raptors to sate.

So even though he wanted to leave me behind, I came with him.  After the battles yesterday there was no way I was letting him out of my sight.  He complained Verde was moving too slow until we headed inland.  Raptors…  battle after battle we won but each was hard.  One time we headed high on a mountain to look about when we were attacked by a group of sabers.  Again usually these tend to move in pairs or alone but we soon found out why they had grouped.

After a screaming battle with the cats, we moved to a safe ridge and saw below a small valley hollowed out on the top of the mountain.  We needed to pass through this valley to get to the other side or go back down and head around.  So we rested and watched our paths.  We saw what had the sabers grouping.  There was the largest pack of raptors I had ever seen.  There must have been twelve of the predators and we quickly realized they were led by a large alpha male.

We exchanged glances at this.  After yesterday neither wished to take the beast head on and risk losing our only transport.  Tel had brought his monkey with him.  This creature was smart and had traveled with Tel on many hunts.  Even he stayed silent and watched the carnage below.   Verde gave a snort and dragged his foot on the rocks.  This drew the raptors attention to us.  Tel quickly signaled me to back the trike up on a rock and he found a high point as well.  Then arrow after arrow was loosed on the pack below.  Each one finding a target and inciting the others to try hard to reach us.  Verde was a strong bull and wanted to fight the enemy but I kept him on a tight reign.  Tel’s monkey tossed stones at the offending animals and chattered insults at the raptors.

The pack soon was fewer and this made them stupid.  They instead of finding cover tried even harder to reach Tel.  I worked my fingers quickly tying arrows together so Tel would not run out as the quiver quickly was drained.  But we had luck on our side this time and soon the Alpha was left alone.  Arrow after arrow was shot down on the angry screaming raptor.  When it finally fell, we were both exhausted and my body shook in relief.  We travelled down and began to skin them all.  This took time and by the time we headed down the other side, it was growing dark.  Tel rode in front and the easy lumbering gait of the trike soon had me asleep.

I awoke to cold.  So cold and shivering hard enough my teeth chattered.  We were crossing a river when I fell off.  Tel told me later by the time he fished me out and found the cabin, I was blue.  I do not think I will ever like this climate.  Always cold and hungry.  Can’t wait to go back to our camp.  Hopefully Tel will come back with enough pelts that we can do this.  He says I am too weak to make it in the cold without better gear.  For now we struggle with the cold…

  13. Day 60:

Day 60 and I am freezing.  The wolves are howling, the air is so cold and my stomach aches for food.  I ran out of berries this morning.  Hopefully Tel will return soon.  I worry about Verde, my new Trike as well.  With the snow on the ground berries are hard to find and I get too cold to gather but a few at a time.

Tel and I are making camp in an abandoned cabin we found.  It might be one of Kuro’s or someone else’s but hard to know.  I find it odd none leave a name or sign of who was here but we are seeing more and more of these lately.

A few days ago Tel said he was going on patrol.  This meant a hunt as well.  I asked to go along and perhaps get to see the land.  To my surprise he liked the idea.  So we packed up his two raptors and headed out.

It started out well.  I followed him as best as possible but he was fast and used to the mounts.  Racing along the beach was fun but he soon outdistanced me.  The raptors are excellent jumpers and when they lean forward, you better hold on for they are fast.  So just as I was adjusting and getting used to the ride we were attacked.  A pack of three raptors jumped my mount.  She fought them off as I swung my ax.  Mikki was my ride’s name and never was I so glad to be riding her.

Tel returned from up the beach at hearing the sounds of battle and his male tore into the pack like they were nothing.  Mated dinos tend to be very protective of each other.  I let Mikki tear into one of the carcasses while I skinned the others.  Tel’s male was watching over his mate as Tel worked on the third.  While we worked he shared how he had been attacked just up ahead.  When we finished and stopped to rest a moment, I shared my thoughts.  “Tel that is not normal.  Two packs on the same beach and more than a pair?”  He nodded with a frown wrinkling his brow.  “Yeah they are a bit more populated than normal.”   After a short break and packing up of meat, we headed out again.

This time up the mountain we turned and at a slower pace.  We had made it but half way up when some sabortooth cats attacked.  This time it was five of the vicious felines and we were fighting for our lives.  Cats usually hunted alone or with their mate but not in a pack.  The day was filled with the screams of angry raptors and the roar of hungry cats.  Just as my arm was growing tired of hitting at claws and swinging at claws, the battle eased.  Tel was chasing down the last and I hopped off to tend to Mikki.  This time she has a nasty scratch on her haunch.  I smoothed the healing salve over the wound and then fed her more fresh meat until she was full.  Tel had not returned but I knew it was best to wait for him.

Mikki and I were cleaning up the battle when she hissed her warning call.  I knew that sound being on the other end of it many times so hesitated while looking for the danger.  Making a lunge for the raptor to get out of there, I found myself facing another three felines.  “Well this is not going to be fun.”  The smell of blood still filling the air I knew more would come soon.  It had been stupid to stay so long.  Raptors are killing machines.  It is what they do.  So even hurt as she was, Mikki roared her attack call and started killing.  She dodged, jumped, snapped and clawed at each cat while trying to not get hurt again.  I stood upon a rock and used my sling shot to knock a few heads in.

Within a few minutes my heart started to race and I worried she would fail, I could see her slowing and panting for breath but then noticed she had taken the three cats down.  I quickly moved to her and got on the saddle to go find Tel when we heard rustling.  Barely making it on her saddle, I gave a kick and she was off.  Right down a steep drop off.  My luck was starting to piss me off…   Weakened, Mikki scrambled her way down the steep slope until she lost her footing and I tumbled head over heal to finally settle in a pile of leaves.

Dizzy and slightly nauseous, I finally moved when sure nothing was damaged and looked about.  Mikki was nowhere to be seen.  A few minutes of searching with the bitter taste of fear in my mouth, I headed to the beach.  I knew the way home from there and hopefully Tel could find me.

It took him about an hour to show with Mikki in tow.  I should have been angry at the beast for leaving me but really I was just happy she was not killed.   The two raptors had a few more scratches on them but seemed ready to go.  I on the other hand was thinking of warm fires and wooden walls.  “You found her.”

“Yeah, she just showed up without you.  We headed back but was jumped again.”  Giving me an odd look, almost concerned.  “Are you alright?  What happened?”  He could not have worried about me?

“We were jumped again and lost footing coming down the mountain.  When she dumped me, she must have gone looking for him.”  Pointing at the male raptor eyeing the trees like he saw something there.  This was enough to get me moving.  “Ummm perhaps we should keep moving?”  Tel agreed and soon we were both up and back to our patrol.  No way I was going to show him I was concerned or wanting to quit.

Three more attacks and we were done.  The raptors were tired and covered in scratches.  Mikki was even limping a bit.  So as we headed back to the post, we saw the worst thing yet.  An Alpha.  These dinos seemed to be more aggressive than normal, larger and stronger than the others.  Of course it was a raptor to top off our already tiring day.  Moving along the other side of the river, I saw the beast but Tel did not.  He walked right up to where it was making a nest.

OK not sure if one would call them nests but most of the meat eaters seemed to make beds for the time they slept while the berry eaters like to sleep on their feet to move if needed.  This one seemed to have claimed the area about as many bones and carcasses were scattered about the black sand.  I signaled to Tel and pointed at the Alpha just as our raptors smelled the meat and made small hunting sounds.  This drew the Alpha to our location and he started to come at us.  “Do we run?”

Tel yelled at me.  “DISMOUNT!”  I quickly jumped from the saddle and found a rock.  Pulling out my bow, I knocked the arrow and waited to start firing.  The two raptors of his called a challenge and started at him.  This was the worst battle yet.  The small ravine was filled with the screams of pained and angry raptors.  Tel rushed in to try and call off his beasts and got too close.  A swipe of tail and he was off his feet and in the water.  The couple of arrows I had shot did nothing to slow the battle.  Seeing Tel drop I ran through the water and grabbed his shirt to keep him from drowning.

Just as I finished pulling him out, I turned to see both the tamed raptors drop.  Necks broken and turning the water to red.  It was a good way to die on this island, fighting.  I started to look for a place to hide when the ground shook.  The uneven beat was not brono and so most likely rex.  Now I was not sure which way to run or which one was the most dreaded.  Just as I moved to cover Tel a big shadow drew over me and I saw a rex with Wolf on its back.

    (To be continued)

  14. Day 56:

The wound is healing well.  It was going to leave a nice scar about four inches along my ribcage.  The raptor thankfully did not break the rib but slide along it.  Keeping it clean and with a salve of bark and leaves seems to have increased the healing.  I am still sore and tender on ribs, able to get up to tend animals but taking care to not tear it open again.  Tel returned from a short overnight trek to the mountains.  He searches for pearls and crystals he said but I think he did not like me being wounded.  He was at the craft house on the unfinished second level.  Climbing the ladder would not be pleasant but I was tired of the gimping about and needed to test the healing.  Making it up slowly with one hand, I kept the other cradled close to my side protecting it.  I approached a bit cautiously as he seemed busy and grumpy.

But when he saw me, he smiled then slowly frowned looking at the ladder.  “So are your boxes full of pearls and crystals?”  I asked to get his mind off me climbing the ladder.  Tel might be quiet but he was very astute.  He stopped and crossed his arms before him, giving me a hard look.  “What?  I took it easy.”  I answered said look defensively, then lifted my arms to show him the pain was gone.  Well mostly, I had to hide the twinge that came with the action.  Finally he gave me a nod.  Not sure if he believed me or not but he seemed willing to let it drop.  “I did not find pearls this time. Come see what I did find.”

I followed as he moved to the ladder.  I had not prepared myself for this yet and so hesitated to go down.  Then started the climb down in a slow careful manner for going down needed both hands but less over the head reaching.  I was half way when my hips were grabbed and I was pulled from the ladder. Letting out a small sound of surprise, I then prepared to feel the floor rushing up.  Nope Tel just held me a long moment before slowly placing my feet on the floor and taking my hand.  “Come on, slow poke.”

Outside he led me to a huge elk like beast.  It had a horn spread of about seven feet and had the shaggiest grey fur.  I could not help the smile at the almost normal looking creature.  He was so majestic and beautiful.  Tel had a smile on his face as he brought me closer.  “What you think.”  My voice was a bit thick with emotion, “He is beautiful.”  I reached out to stroke the fur and smiled at the normal feel.  Tel leaned in to whisper next to my ear.  “He is yours.”  Mine?  I gave a high squeal and laid my face on the beasts side.  Then turned to give Tel a big hug, which he took well but the smile on his face was telling.  The thick skinned loner was starting to crack a bit.

From my hug, he lifted me up and set me on the creature.  A few little hints on how to control him and we were off.  Seriously off.  I must have rode him in the valley for an hour until my side ached.  He was fast and had a jump that could clear boulders.  I was happy.  Finally I slowed to a walk and headed to my house to feed the new mount.  Then started to look for Tel once more, He had been watching me ride for a while when I lost sight of him.

Then I saw him by the pond and kneeling by some boulders.  As I neared I saw they were not rocks but huge wolves.  Almost horse size, three of them were all huddled about Tel and tails waggling.  I came up slowly.  Not wanting to start trouble but curious at what he was doing.  I was almost within talking distance when they picked up my scent and growled low.  Why I knew what to do was a mystery, but I went to one knee and waited with eyes not making contact.  A bit worried, my voice showed my concern.  “Wolves?  You tamed some wolves?”

He grinned at me.  “Yep.”  Seeing his smile not lowering, I smiled back.  “They are wonderful.”  The man had a way with animals that was uncanny.  Wolf was the predator expert, Zach was the flyer, I was fair with the herbivores especially Mammoths.  But Tel… He seemed to have a way with them all.  Even the silly Dodos liked him.

He made me come closer and pet them, they got over their need to growl quickly.  “They are superfast.  Let’s go for a run.”  Next thing I knew, I was on the grey one named Claw and we were speeding away.  He was not kidding at how fast but also amazing hunters.   Bounding from rocks and downed trees, we covered so many miles.  Finally stopping to rest.  Realizing we stayed out too long, we made camp on the beach and returned in the morning.  I was sore but it did not matter.  It was the longest time I had been happy since waking on the beach almost two months ago.

Later I did realized, I was not so curious to go exploring and get off this crazy island.  It was becoming like home.
