Does anyone have suggestions for a secondary book for Nov/Dec for those who have already read it or are wanting more reading material?
-
@draiocht89 I was going to get the kindle version from Amazon, I think they have the paperback version as well. I am not sure if they have it in bookstores, anyone else know?

@RhemaTom Ooh must be good then! Maybe we can have a secondary book for those who have already read it, or are reading ahead. This time around can be a good experiment for how flexible the timeline should be. ^^

Hi everyone! I didn't see an official announcement with notifications so I figured I would post.
The book of the month chosen by poll results is:
Kurintor Nyusi
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/39282719-kurintor-nyusi?ac=1&from_search=true
I thought up an approximate timeline, keeping Holiday busy-ness in mind. Let me know what you guys think!
Kurintor Nyusi Weekly Timeline (Resets Saturdays)
11/8-11/16: A week or so to get the book and find out who wants to read it together! (If you have busy plans for the holidays, might want to jump in sooner)
11/17-11/24 First quarter of the book and first discussion post
11/24-12/1 2nd quarter/2nd discussion (halfway)
12/1-12/8 Catch up week - everyone get to halfway through!
12/8-12/15 3rd quarter/3rd discussion
12/15-12/22 final quarter/final discussion, gather new book suggestions
12/22-12/29 Holiday break
12/29-1/5 Discussion and voting for new book

Discord works pretty well, there are DnD bots you can add the the text channels. You can upload your character sheet and roll dice, look up spells, etc. all in the channels, it's pretty handy.

Very nice thanks for organizing!

A book every other month would probably be a better timeframe and allow more people to participate
Agreed! If we post the discussions by chapters, even if someone is one book "behind" for the next month, they can still participate in the last session. So if we have moved on from Book A to Book B, there will still be a little discussion happening for Book A for any stragglers.
Does every month and a half sound good? Or two months?

Not really sure for the pacing since I haven't participated before.
Pacing: Maybe we can go every two months and the last two weeks could be break/voting on a new book? Or similar go one month and then two weeks off/voting so it would be every month and a half? We could change it up depending on the length/complexity of the book.
Discussion: Maybe for that month we could have a discussion every week that breaks up the book by chapters evenly, for example an 8 chapter book would be 4 discussions. Week 1 chapters 1-2, week 2 chapters 3-4....etc. That way nobody gets spoilored and we can monitor how everyone is getting along.

Suggestions for April/May book club?
in General Discussion
Posted · Edited by Kell
Hey everyone! I noticed we fell off the ball for Book of the Month and thought it might be great to try again with some renewed interest! Would anyone have any books to suggest?
I think it would be awesome to read something by Terry Pratchet. Short, fun, awesome stories based in a fantasy world seems right up RoH's alley. We could even read Good Omens as it is being turned into a series soon (I think)? Let's get some suggestions going and then vote next week! We could do a short book just for April or a longer book that stretches across to May. Let me know what you guys think!
