  1. @witchbolts @SilentTheGray  Ah - unfortunately I will need to bow out of games for the moment, as I just roped-in,  er... convinced ... well @Siscia decided to jump on in and start playing.

So we are going to probably do a full run through, or at the very least give @Siscia time to grow her Divinity legs, before we jump into any larger games.

That said - I still want to get something together with you guys once we run through it again.

  2. Welcome back to PoE! I loved Titan Quest back in the day, and PoE is like that x100!

I'm about 105 hours in, on my third character and still feel like a filthy casual, but I'm having a great time min/maxing. It feels great when you make a few tweaks and suddenly you can drop mobs in a single hit.

Looking forward to seeing you around!

  3. Welcome @Vikkie !  I think you'll be pretty happy with the game once you really dive in! I finished it recently and am really excited to jump back in as I know I missed a bunch.

  4. I'm open pretty much any evening, although friday/saturday nights work best simply due to the lack of work the next day. I'm in CST and would need it to probably be around 7.

All that said I could probably carve out some time during the day on Thursday or Friday if anyone is available during the week.

"Power to the People" was my first choice as well, but the author clearly believes the people can't be trusted very far. I think the lore in the story justifies the bad outcome of leaving a rent in the veil. I agree that the ending that banishes sorcery seems unduly idyllic, but perhaps normal human misery is the best we can hope for; after all, messing with magic has never turned out well.

    Spoiler

I wouldn't call leaving the rent in the veil a 'bad' ending. Even becoming divine yourself I wouldn't call a 'bad' ending. All depends on perspective - obviously Malady is pretty happy if you decide to take your place as divine, and isn't as thrilled if you seal the veil.

I felt they could have squeezed another ending out of it where you seal the veil but also take care of Lucian and Dallis. And in fact- when I first decided to seal the veil it was after I dispatched everyone else, and I thought they were dead, so I was a little shocked when Dallis was mentioned right away. I then realized that you only incapacitate them during the fight.

  6. So I recently finished and all I can say is:

    oh my god wtf GIF

    Now lets discuss:

    Spoiler

My one issue with the game and story and everything is that there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer on how this lines up with the other games in the divinity series. It seems to take place before Divinity 2 and after Beyond Divinity - but there are inconsistencies depending on which ending you get. I'm currently treating Original Sin 1 and 2 as separate headcannon, and Original Sin 2 as the last game in the series so I feel like my choices matter more.

Speaking on the events leading up to the ending:

    Spoiler

Wow. What a great scenario. First off - Lucien is ALIVE. Second - Dallis is an Eternal AND Fane's daughter (which was a real WTF moment from me, as Fane was one of my compantions.) And Finally - Bracchus is back?!?! That was a surprise only because I never finished the quest to revive him as I was trying to get through the story.

The question posed at the end was really one of 'do the ends justify the means?' And honestly it seemed like a difficult answer, until you realize that Lucien sort of brought it on himself by using the deathfog on the elves. It also didn't help that Ifan was my boy and I couldn't let him not get revenge.

    And the ending itself:

    Spoiler

So I did all five main endings.

I thought it was a bit cheap that the ending where you seal the veil has everyone living happily ever after. But - again- I understand what they were going for - and honestly the game was so open ended that there was no way to conclude the story without you feeling like you couldn't make the impact you wanted to make. If that makes sense.

I thought that teaming up with the demon would have had a more balanced ending. In that the demon divine would essentially take over punishing duties, while the main divine would take the worship and praising duties. But alas - it didn't work like that and turned out to be a worse ending.

I felt like the ending that made the most sense was giving everyone source - I felt like it had a good balance of things going great, but people still being in charge of their destines- even if it lead them to war.

Anyway. Those are my thoughts - what did you guys think?  @SilentTheGray @witchbolts @Anan

  7. I'm having some fun playing a Warrior/Polymorph build, as things like tentacle lash do straight physical damage, and wings/horns are really fun to use as a 2 handed warrior.

  8. Hi all, thanks for the invite!

Finishing up my first run through of the game, afterwards I'd love to jump into something multiplayer. I sort of just ran through the mainline quest and missed a ton of stuff, so it would be cool to take it a bit slower and explore every bit of the game.
