1 Greetings, @Rosy! Congratulations and Welcome! Your application has been accepted, and you are now an official Trial Member of the Remnants of Hope! The next stage of your journey is a two-week trial period where we will get to know each other better. The process ensures RoH is a good fit for you and vice-versa. Even though it might seem complicated, it's how we make sure Remnants of Hope keeps a core of loyal members who care about each other. This message contains important information regarding your Trial Membership, so please read through to the end. The trial requirements have been broken down into separate, easy tasks and you'll be using this thread to update the recruitment department on your progress. The Trial Process consists of the following objectives, which need to be completed within the next two weeks. As you complete your trial objectives, please post updates here in the trial thread. Trial Objectives: Join the guild in-game and Cross-Faction Community. We are on Illidan-Horde, and Emerald Dream-Alliance. You can apply through the guild finder in WoW for both (search Remnants and we should come up) and make sure to include your forum name in the note. You're welcome to bring multiple toons into the guild during your Trial as either faction, and we use community chat in place of guild chat. There is no need to server change right away. You're welcome to roll an alt and use community chat to run max level events on your main for the duration of your trial. Full instructions on how to join both can be found HERE. Set a forum avatar or use your Discord icon. To change your avatar, click your name on the top right and choose "profile." Then click the icon of a photograph on the left on the next page. Once you've linked your account to Discord, you'll also have the option to use your Discord photo as your forum avatar. Join Discord and Introduce Yourself! Link your Discord account with your Forum Account Say hello and introduce yourself in our WoW Channel HERE. Check the pinned posts for more guidance on what to post. Sign up for notifications for departments you're interested in and look over our Read First Channel. Read our Guild Charter and sign our Rules and Regulations thread. Post answers to the following questions here in your application thread: What two offices are elected in Remnants of Hope? Who is the High Elder currently? Who is the WoW Division Commander currently? Who are the WoW Department Officers, and what Departments do they head? Participate in 2 events. If you have any trouble finding events that fit your level or schedule, please ask any Officer or Assistant for help choosing events. A scheduled event. Check out the in-game calendar or refer to the Adventure Board or use the Sign-up Bot in Discord. Or any activity in-game with one or more [The Remnants of Hope] members such as dungeons, transmog runs or leveling. Please take a screenshot of the activity and post to this application. Interview: When you have completed the objectives above, the WoW Recruitment Department will contact you about an interview. The interview takes around 10 minutes and is recorded on Discord so Officers can review and vote on membership. It is permanently deleted after a decision has been made. A written interview is mandatory if you are under age 18. The interview is not a quiz and will cover two main topics: Your trial period and how it went. Your future with the guild. Please let us know if you have any concerns or issues that would make a voice chat difficult or uncomfortable, we value all personalities and can discuss other options upon request. I could tell when reading through the Code of Conduct that this guild really fit the attitude I try to have when playing WoW, which I appreciate. I am returning to GW2 after a 1 year hiatus, and most of my guilds are inactive. As a gay man, I was looking for a LGBTQ+ friendly guild for GW2 and Google returned a reddit post from one of your officers dating from 2022, saying that the guild was very "old" and "gay" friendly. So I decided to apply and get to know you, as i feel a bit lonely in game right now. It seems I applied to the guild back 5 years ago for SWtOR. 3. If you could travel to any time or place where would it be? I try to travel one of twice per year, but my regular soothing spot is my little apartment in the french Alps. When I want to get my hyperactive brain cleaned up, I go there to hike, to visit some family I have there and just to enjoy the scenery really. For me, nothing is more enjoyable than having some good lunch facing the Mont Blanc (highest summit in western Europe). 4. Upon joining Remnants of Hope you are expected to maintain a mature and friendly demeanor to everyone in game. What does maturity mean to you and do you feel that you can remain civil even with the nastiest players in the game? As a team lead (professionally) I have to deal with all sort of people. I am of the mindset than everyone has something to bring to the table, we just have to learn to live and co-exist together. I tried to welcome everyone, and treat everyone with the same respect I expect to get in return. 5. If you could have any superpower what would it be and why? NSFW answer : I love to watch people in their intimacy, not only sexual but also emotional. I guess my answer to that would be : invisible. 6. Have you been in other guilds before; on this game or any others? If so,what was your favorite and least favorite things about them? For a long time, I was a member of RTGC (Rough Trade Gaming Community / Taint). Back in the days, we had a very strong leader and a very active leadership team. We kept everyone super motivated, and it was great fun running all sort of contents with them, including the weekly guild missions on Sunday nights. When the leadership changed, the GW2 guild chapter more or less fell apart sadly. 7. What five adjectives, and 5 only, would you use to describe yourself? Nice, Loyal, Fair, Moody, Passionate 8. Have you ever held a leadership position in a gaming community? Would this be something you are interested in in the future? I was an officer in GW2 for a time for RTGC. If the feel and the fit are right, i may be interested into taking responsibilities again in the future. 9. Aside from gaming, what is one activity you enjoy? And what is one activity you dislike? Hiking: I love going into the mountains for a hike. In 2019, I crossed the french Alps from the Geneva lake to the Mediterranean. Best Time of my life. Swimming: as an aquaphobic, I can not be deeper than waist high in the water lol. 10. What are your personal strengths and weaknesses as a person (not in game)? I guess I would answer the same adjectives as I wrote for question 7. Plus that I love meeting new people from all horizons. 11. Remnants of Hope houses players that enjoy all aspects of the game, Crafting, PVE, PVP, RP and Social. Which do you enjoy the most, and why? Mostly PvE, Crafting and Social. I am not into RP-ing, and PvP is just not for me. I like WvW, but sPvP is usually too hardcore for me. 12. The servers are closing down in 24 hours permanently. How would you like to spend the last bit of time in game? With some in-game friends, sharing memories about the game. I have so many regarding GW2, as I played since day 2 or 3, and only because i was traveling the day it launched :) 13. What other games have you played and what did you like about them? Any games you are excitedly waiting for? Hummm I play them all :) Exagerating here but I try a good many numbers of them. The one I am really looking forward is Dune Awakening from Funcom: I Love the Dune lore and I really lioke survival games. 14. If you could be any animal (fantasy ones included) which would you be and why? A bird, to be able to fly ? 15. RoH utilizes Discord for VoIP. Hey Rosy, thanks for applying! I’m Varitho, the Division Commander (GM) of the WoW division. Things like this definitely suck and are unfortunately all too common in WoW. At RoH, we really strive to create an environment where members can participate in endgame content without being judged or ridiculed. We have a number of members (including myself) with limited or no endgame experience that have been able to achieve things like AOTC, KSM, and KSH without creating a hostile environment. Really appreciate the application - looking forward to meeting in-game!

I saw a recruitment post on Reddit in r/wowguilds. 3. If you could travel to any time or place where would it be? I'd love to experience the late 70s/early 80s for the music scene-- I'm a huge classic rock fan and would love to catch all the legendary concerts my parents and their contemporaries have stories of that I missed out on. I also think it'd be fun to experience the heyday of the arcade scene, even if I'm not very good at that sort of game-- hanging out with your friends playing video games has always been my favorite thing to do, and something about seeing the live reaction to them when they were still a fresh concept sounds fun. 4. Upon joining Remnants of Hope you are expected to maintain a mature and friendly demeanor to everyone in game. What does maturity mean to you and do you feel that you can remain civil even with the nastiest players in the game? Maturity to me is about empathy and knowing when to walk away when things get heated. Be respectful and pick your battles. Chances are if I'm gaming, I'm trying to relax! The last thing I want is to be angry, or to argue. I've got plenty of years of dealing with WoW's nastiest under my belt, and I've grown pretty content with disengaging early with a "Have a Nice Day" and making liberal use of the ignore button. 5. If you could have any superpower what would it be and why? Teleportation for sure. My entire family lives in a different state, and I sure would love to be able to visit them without setting aside crazy amounts of time and money! 6. Have you been in other guilds before; on this game or any others? If so,what was your favorite and least favorite things about them? Yes, the guild I was a part of in WoW before this died from inactivity (RIP Shadowlands), but its core crew was originally very active in the Antorus/early BFA days. I loved being able to join a common, reliable group and work together to try and problem solve and kill bosses. Being able to breeze through content and laugh was the best, but progging and celebrating a kill after a bunch of wipes was also very gratifying. I just love co-op game modes so much!! If I had to choose a least favorite thing, I have to admit the group's leaders were sometimes super unpleasant during raid times, especially in the later tiers as people started disappearing and desperation crept in as it got harder to fill groups. There was this extreme anger and impatience that seemed super prevalent, and resulted in a lot of yelling and threatening people over making simple mistakes while trying to clear a raid. I was lucky enough to never draw anyone's ire, but even hearing other people admonished so harshly for something so innocuous as making a miscalculation in a video game really started grating on me after a while. My memories are pretty tarnished with sounds of screaming over the laughter of the rest of us as we try to shake it off and go again. I just don't like being in comms when there's a lot of (negative) yelling happening. 7. What five adjectives, and 5 only, would you use to describe yourself? Chill, Creative, Sassy, Good-Humored, Confident 8. Have you ever held a leadership position in a gaming community? Would this be something you are interested in in the future? Never in a gaming community, no, but I've held them in social communities (namely on LiveJournal, really dating myself here, I know lol). I honestly am not looking to lead anything, especially as my work commitments sometimes pull me away from gaming as much as I'd like to be able to, but if I found some off time, the opportunity arose, and people felt I'd be a good fit then I might be willing. 9. Aside from gaming, what is one activity you enjoy? And what is one activity you dislike? I love drawing! I've always been an artistic kid. And I am not terribly athletic, but I especially dislike running, haha. 10. What are your personal strengths and weaknesses as a person (not in game)? My strengths: Determined, Dependable, Hopeful, Introspective, Empathetic, Creative, Honest, Realistically understand my own abilities, Love to Laugh My weaknesses: Impatient, Painfully Introverted, Addicted to my vices (currently trying to break a lifelong love affair with sugar, hoo-boy), Tendency to Tunnel Vision and put things off 11. Remnants of Hope houses players that enjoy all aspects of the game, Crafting, PVE, PVP, RP and Social. Which do you enjoy the most, and why? I'm big into PVE-- I'm a Mythic + fiend, and also really enjoy raiding (though finding a group large enough to raid can be a pain). I also just really enjoy being Social, so I'm down to do low pressure stuff like farming old group achievements with folks and whatnot. I just like being in disc and joking with friends. 12. The servers are closing down in 24 hours permanently. How would you like to spend the last bit of time in game? Hanging out in a giant group of friends in disc while we sit in game, laughing and reminiscing. Then I'd pick a place special to me to log my character out permanently-- probably Suramar, in a bed in one of the inns. I don't always do it, but I do love "tucking my characters in" by logging out while they're laying in a cozy bed. 13. What other games have you played and what did you like about them? Any games you are excitedly waiting for? I'm also a huge FFXIV fan, and though I don't think I'd be willing to move servers (I've got a small friends-only FC on Hyperion, and we have a medium house in Empyreum), I'd definitely be down to hang out/data center hop with FFXIV-playing community members if they'd have me! I also love PVE in it as well-- extremes are a perfect difficulty, and I've had interest in joining a static to progress savage, but I was afraid to do so because of my work schedule (though I've successfully pugged it a handful of times without much issue). I'm most comfortable on BRD, but I've dabbled in other things as well (MNK/SMN/WAR/WHM). My favorite thing about FFXIV is the story. I cannot even tell you how much certain moments in Endwalker enthralled me. Literally some of the most joy I've gotten out of consuming story-based media ever, haha. OBVIOUSLY I'm super excited for Dawntrail. And female Hrothgars!! I will not be fantasiaing my main (femroe gang rise up!!), but I'm definitely making a Hroth alt, even if she doesn't see much playtime. As for other games, I've been playing basically my whole life! I'm also a huge into: Zelda (Majora's Mask/Twilight Princess), Animal Crossing, Pokemon (though the last time I enjoyed them was X/Y), Final Fantasy (6/7, though I'm admittedly still making my way through them so I haven't played them all), Monster Hunter (World)... you can bet anytime any of these franchises have a new game coming, I'm excited!! 14. If you could be any animal (fantasy ones included) which would you be and why? Probably something beautiful and majestic, like a pegacorn or a dragon. It'd be nice to be able to fly and to use certain types of magic! 15. RoH utilizes Discord for VoIP. Are you willing to use this platform, based on the needs of the activity you're interested in? I use Discord constantly, so this would be perfect for me! 16. Are you on the servers we currently play on and are you planning on transferring to join us? Yes, I play almost exclusively Horde toons on Illidan! I'm also down to make some Alliance Toons on Emerald Dream during Pandaria Remix if necessary.
