Between the two, in a smaller group, I think probably the Ghetto Minstrel will work better as it can fulfill one of the support roles fairly comprehensively and brings cc. I'm sure the Trailblazer Chrono brings nice damage, but I can see us having scourges, warriors, heralds, etc. that better fill the role.

Just curious, have you tried shatter mirage? I know it's not highly rated on metabattle atm, but we've seen some pretty nasty ones in-game recently.

If we have a firebrand, in a group of 5, would the boons from the Support Chrono be superfluous?

I have not touched mirage at all, so am super unfamiliar with the class mechanics.

I think your minstrel might fit into a cc/support role, and portal can be pretty devastating if a group knows what they're doing. Do you think you could give a comparison of your ghetto minstrel and the trailblazer-ish build would bring?

    Ghetton Minstrel-Star

    Discussion is in this thread.

Essentially, I would be boon sharing, providing veils, portals. I would need a lot of practice for the two latter since to this point, I have not used either tactic extensively.

    Trailburner Chrono

Basically, this build is a condi build that focuses primarily on Torment application through the scepter skills, and shattering. I can apply some confusion, and if using Torch offhand, I also apply burning. Its a gimmicky condi burst that uses the teleport, along with the torch 4 and 5 to apply burning right off the bat plus shattering illusions for torment. I do swap focus in if running in a larger group to help with pulls or swiftness. I am pretty flexible with the utility skills, able to swap them out as none are ultimately super crucial to the build. Basically, I would be trading boon sharing for condi damage application with this toon.

  3. With what seems like a heavy condi meta, we want cleanses as one major thing. Cleanses we can get through

    • self-only skills;
    • party/aoe skills; and/or
    • using finishers (blast, projectile and whirl) through light fields.

The thing with using fields is that people need to become familiar with fields and what finishers to use. If relying on fields, we would want to coordinate their use by calling them out so that people can use appropriate finishers through them. The same would apply to healing and water fields.

As far as the group composition question, I would definitely want some cc in there. But perhaps thats my personal preference. Maybe something like (1) healer/support, (1) DD/cc, (1) DD/support, (2) DDs?

    Not sure exactly.

I will say that I am trying to only play my mesmer. With that said, I bring a ghetto minstrel build that is pretty much full support. Is this something that would be needed or more beneficial than say a trailblazer-ish condi Chrono? What group size are we thinking when talking about small group?

@RaVem How come the member's tab is gone, and none show up on the club? I can't modify moderators and such or send invites.

Its set as public. Would you rather it be set to open?

Open requires invites to be able to post. Public does not.

Let me know and I can change it for you.

  5. Heya @BlixBlix

Right now, the club is set to private. So, only those who have been invited to the club can even see it exists. I am not sure what the plan is for this club, but this will impact it's visibility to non members. For example, your post below seems like it would be directed at those not currently doing fractals already and would get more traction if more visible.

If you want it changed, let me know. Otherwise, ignore what I said and carry on!

@RaVem, how's this build been treating you the last few weeks? Any tweaks you've made?

When sieging, I find I swap sneak gyro for mortar kit, for the ranged attack.

I have been finding the pull on toolkit to be hit or miss. I am not sure if it is getting LoSed or something else. However, it does not always work. But when it does, it is a lot of fun.

I am still not as bursty as I would like, but I think last week I went in without any trinkets lol. So that may explain some things lol.

OVerall, i am still enjoying it.

  7. So, I did somemore WvW with @Shaaahn on Saturday morning, and I was running around with Toolkit instead of Elixir Gun or Bomb Kit. I found that it had some really fun tools for WvW. The Toolkit has a pull, a block, a cripple. I use Static Discharge for some added burst. It's a fun build that can reveal hidden thieves, provide stealth, and help remove some conditions.

  8. So...

I am fickle and decided to play around with my scrapper, and have arrived at the following build. I already have the trinkets, weapon and 2 of the armour pieces. The remaining armour pieces I have in Exotic, for a minor loss in stats.

    http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASnUUBlXh1XBubBEqilJjKsfSmwi+vr7AXsZKgAA-jlSXABBokIYlKgoDY09HwRJIAKDq7BAosSoYVXhHVKAA-w

So, I am going for power bursty again, but with a little more sustain, and some other group support that looks fun.

I chose hammer because it has a stun field, a block, and a leap, all of which I think are very useful in wvw.

I am not sure if I will be running the healing turret or the medic gyro. The turret can cleanse conditions if I overcharge it, but it is immobile, which can be a detriment to a mobile havoc group. Medic Gyro does not have the cleanse, but can be a mobile waterfield with the toolbelt skill.

For utilities, I plan on taking Elixir U for the quickness in the opening burst, Elixir S for suvivability, then Elixir Gun for group support.

For my elite, I plan on taking Sneak Gyro for group stealth, which can also be really handy for WVW.

I am training my elixirs to help remove conditions, for additional group support.

I am still playing around with the Scrapper Traits.

    Any thoughts?

I'm still working through this build. Haven't truly played ranger in years, so it will take me a little bit.

The mixed stats definitely stood out though. I'm assuming that you're aiming for fairly precise numbers on multiple stats. Would you mind listing your target numbers?

I was really just playing with the balance between the offensive and defensive stats, what ascended trinkets I already had, and what feels good lol. No real targets aside from something like 2700 to 2800 armor and around 20k health. I just dont know if they is considered enough for wvw.

  10. This build variant swaps axe/wh for longbow, and I have reworked the traits slightly.

By going with Unstoppable Union instead of Live Fast, i have the option to drop Signet of the Hunt in favour of one of the following:

    • Signet of the Wild for additional Ferocity and another Root for cc
    • Dolyak Stance for 6s Stability
    • Protect Me for a stun break and defensive boons
    • Signet of Stone for additional Toughness and more Invuln
    • Lightning Reflexes for a stun break and evade
    • Frost Trap or Muddy terrain for even more control

Pets wise, here are some that I am considering:

    • Krytan Drakehound - great for cc as a pet. In Soulbeast mode, you get even more cc, and the benefit of a Ferocious Pet for the bonus stats and Worldly Impact. It allows for some fun counter play.
    • Brown Bear - you get Condition Removal as a pet. In Soulbeast mode, you get Regeneration, Defy Pain, and a heal + 3 seconds of Resistance
    • Black bear - gets me double defy pain
    • Eagle - gets me essentially (or close to) perma swiftness, and a Ferocious Pet.
    • Red Moa - gets me Fury and healing
    • Smokescale - a 1.5 s evade while hitting a target multiple times (a la Revenant Sword 3), a knockdown, and the benefits of a ferocious pet.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. I am curious about any insight from others.

  11. Hey guys,

So here is the build I am currently/working on running. I have the gear, but am still toying around with things.

    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQJARTnE8CtCiFsA+rAUtgFPBjpXtrubPrgAQCLv0uantA-jhDBQB8QFBjs/QaUCeQVC0hKE5QFEFqGAAeAAeRJCEuAAmRJhGVO1CdA4QVACBMaMA-e

I am going for (power) bursty build for running havoc, but want to make sure I have enough survivability, which is supposed to explain the mixed stats. Let me know if you think the Toughness/Vitality are sufficient. I know the general answer is that it is based on player experience and comfort lol. If you were to recommend something to start with, what numbers would it be?

    • Bear Stance and Signet of Renewal are designed to help deal with Conditions.
    • Sic'Em and Signet of the Hunt are supposed to be used to help the burst (which consists of using sic'em, then merging with my pet, using Signet, then using Maul, Hilt Bash, Maul, f3).
    • If needed, Entangling Roots is to try and keep the target in place.

I can probably change a few utilities to improve one aspect or another, and may do that if the situation calls for it. For example, I know that I am currently missing stability.

    1. The selection of pets can make up for some of these deficiencies in their F2 abilities and in their merged abilities. So, I am asking for advice on what things you think I need to focus on in order to pick an appropriate pet, if applicable.
    2. Secondly, how important would you consider it to have a ranged weapon to swap to in combat? I currently run with Longbow, but am considering running with Sword/WH for the utility, and extra evasion in melee.

    Thoughts?

Nice! We'd love to have you out there. Owinn led a fun havoc tonight.

Havoc was great last night! Thanks @Owinn!  I really enjoyed it, and hope to be able to do it regularly with you guys!

I also found that with a lot of the changes Anet has made since I last played, WvW is a lot more rewarding than it used to be, so even better!

  13. Is there any way that moderators can be given the ability to delete tabs in a Club? For example, I accidentally create an extra calendar tab and want to remove it, or repurpose it. i cannot change it into another topic tab, so right now, it sits there, taking up space.

Not sure, seeing as I don't really know much about Warhammer other than the miniatures. Looks like a neat strategy game though.

Where Warhammer is a tabletop large scale strategy game, Mordheim is a skirmish game, using essentially the same (4th Edition i think) ruleset, based in a ruined City.
