  1. I know not everyone will be into crafting, hence my question about using deco space for crafting stations. I wish the devs made more of them indoor than they did. As it stands, I think it would be helpful to get them. As I understand it, we'd need 4 large yard spaces (including the supplier), and 2 large furniture (which I figured can go in the topmost room). Thoughts?

EDIT: I take it back, only 3 in the large yard (which is all the large yard spots we have), the supplier is a small yard.

I'd say hold off for now till we get more feedback or more people are interested in crafting.

  2. Welcome my Lords and Ladies!

The Fellowship of Remnants continues onward!

For those who may not be in "the know" regarding this, we are undergoing a plan discussed and agreed upon here. So far so good, as we attempt to enjoy some casual time in Middle Earth, where much of modern fantasy began!

May is over, and the fellowship (Consisting of myself, @Ellenore, @Amrithir, @RhemaTom and @Dalivandrian) successfully navigated much of the Barrow-Downs! We had a lot of fun at it, and we have only just begun! Now it is time to look ahead, and see where the month of June takes us! After a short discussion, it was agreed to shoot for level 30 by the end of June. We can and will do a 'level check' sometime mid-month, and if needed we can alter the goal.

But for now, it is on to level 30! Much awaits us in the Lone-Lands and North Downs!

Image result for Lone-lands mapImage result for north downs map lotro

Both of these zones are likely to take up much of our attention. Starting in the Forsaken Inn (Lone Lands) and Trestlebridge (North Downs), we'll be able to quest up and find lots of leveling through the major hubs of Ost Guruth (Lone Lands) and Esteldin (North Downs). Esteldin has a vault to boot, so it is a nice place to gather. Also Weathertop will be visited this month, so looking forward to that!

Image result for ost guruthImage result for esteldin

    Image result for weathertop lotro

As we begin the adventures, we also still have the option of attempting the Barrow-Downs, an instance that we can do at level 20, but will be easier by level 23 or 24. If enough of us (6 preferably) are around and want to do that in the next week or so, please feel free to start a new thread and tag everyone.

Image result for barrow downs instanceImage result for barrow downs instance lotro

And lastly, keep in mind that Skirmishes are now also available! There are only a few open to freebies, but they can be a lot of fun. You can do them solo, as a duo, as a trio, as a normal fellowship (6), or even as a raid (12). They give reasonable experience, and also give skirmish marks which you can redeem for rewards (such as new armor/weapons, jewellery, reputation items, single-use recipes, cosmetic items, decorations, etc. Now that we are level 20, you can unlock this option by visiting a skirmish camp (found outside most major hubs like Bree, Thorins Hall, etc) and completing a short tutorial/into to skirmishes.

So if anyone wants to group up for some of these, they only last 20 or so minutes per skirmish, and can be very fun with a group! Again I encourage everyone to post on the forums and see what kind of response you will get! I know I'm almost always down for such events as long as I'm available!

Doing an unusual 'tagging all members' to ensure everyone knows about what is happening.  If you would like to jump in and join, it is not too late to level to 30 by the end of June! Jump into Middle Earth and join us! And to automatically be tagged for major events, please sign up by replying to our Notification Thread.

And whither then? I cannot say."

  3. Thanks for the fun times today guys! It was so great being in a fellowship and actually enjoying some group play. For those unable to make it, @Ellenore, @Dalivandrian, @Amrithir, @RhemaTom, and myself got together and did some questing in the Northern Barrow Downs, delving into Barrows and all. Was a lot of fun!

This wraps up May's adventure, on to June! I will make a post about that tomorrow!

  4. So it seems the 2nd (This Sunday) is available to a lot of people. Is everyone level 20? I know @Ellenore and I have a few levels to go but we hope to get those done tomorrow afternoon. How is everyone else's progress if we try to go this Sunday afternoon/evening?

  5. Ugh, found out that I may not be back in time by the 28th, it is kind of up in the air right now if I'll be home that day. If the 28th doesn't work, does the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd work for anyone? I already see that the 2nd possibly works for Amrithir.

I'm good with most of those days except the 30th, although I suspect my local gaming group will get together memorial day, and my Gloomhaven group is also looking to play next weekend, so there will be a little juggling.

I'm also at the beach with the fam this weekend, and without a computer, so I'll need at least one more night when I get back to get some more levels. 😮

Enjoy the beach! We went to the beach during spring break in March and had such a blast. Hope the weather is good, the water cold, sand warm, and all things are going well for you!

  7. Hello everyone!

With May marching on, the time has come to plan our group content at level 20! There are two things we need to figure out.

    1. When do we want to get together in-game? Last day or two of May? First week of June?

    2. What content do we want to tackle?

    For me, personally:

    1. Sunday is the only day @Ellenore and I won't be able to make it. Other then that we are extremely flexible with play times, especially during June and July since I have a 2 month vacation. We may be away from home sometime, especially memorial day weekend, so my vote would be sometime June 5-8th (depending on what day works for all).

    2. We can try to do the Great Barrows, though ideally we'd need 6 and I don't know how many of you are still interested in this. If we have less than 6 then those of us who can could potentially do some skirmishes. Good experience, usually pretty straightforward, and can be pretty fun.

  8. I've been wondering and debating with the idea of slowly getting all of the crafting stations from the lotro store to put into the kin house. I am curious as to what everyone else thinks?

As with most things, I'm trying to find the pros and cons, and weigh if it is worth it.

    Pros:

-Immediate access to all superior crafting stations (just port to kin house from anywhere).

    -Close to guild bank

-If you bought a house in the same instance, close to personal house/storage.

-20% discount from vendors in housing district.

-More regular use of the kin house.

    Cons:

-No AH/Bank/Supplier in the kin house. Would have to walk/ride down the hill for that. This can be a real downer for serious crafters. (EDIT: Found you can put a supplier in your kin house, just like a crafting station).

-Would take up a few large furniture hooks and a lot of the 'yard' space, taking away from potential decorating. (This isn't a problem right now, but can be in the future if we want more deco).

I know I'm probably missing important points, so I'm pitching it here to see if anyone else has any thoughts on this.

I think there are 5 stations? Maybe 6? I'm getting close to being able to purchase one, and I can probably convince @Ellenore to help buy one as well. If others want to donate we can do it quickly, otherwise I am willing to do it over time as I earn more Lotro points.

    Thoughts?

  9. Well we are halfway there! It is May 15th! I hope adventures are enjoyable! I haven't been able to play much the past few days as I am spending my afternoons/early evenings grading end-of-year papers for my classes. But I'm hoping that by the weekend, and some time next week, I'll be able to hop on again.

    Hope others are enjoying themselves!

The Shire is a starter area like Ered Luin, with similar level quests, but has it's own deeds and such. And yes, it's very peaceful there 😊

My very first character was a hobbit.

Its been a while since I've made a hobbit! I may have to start another one up after I get a character to level 20.

My elf mini, Teladrean (teh-LAH-dree-en), has been rolling through Ered Luin. I've been taking all the quests and have just gotten to Gondamon. I'm up to level 13. I am thinking I might take a tour through the Shire on my way to Bree. So far no dying, but I did scare myself going over a cliff that was higher than I thought. 😮

I'd be happy to journey with company if anyone is interested. I will warn you that I'm purposely taking my time 🙂

You will enjoy the Shire! Very peaceful. I must admit I don't know what level of quests are available there. I'm not as experienced with it. But I have run around it a bunch and enjoy its serenity.

I hit a roadblock.  Well, not a roadblock as much as a mood block.  I got semi-depressed and when I get that way, it is all I can do to log onto SWG to do some of my daily things... which only take about 10 minutes.  Forget playing LotR.  My days have basically been siting, going to bed, and eating when my stomach starts really growling.

However, I think it is safe to say that I will likely be your sideline cheerleader anyway.  By 1:30 PM CST, I am pretty much done for the day.  Most people aren't even getting online yet.  I was going to try to push past my normal playtime, but I tried doing that yesterday when I got cheered up a bit.  My guild was doing something in SWG and wanted me to go with them.  I did... and regretted it from the word "go."  I could hit anything, couldn't reach out and grab things fast enough, and was generally like the slow child that has the grownups standing around saying, "It's that.  No, this one.  THIS ONE!  God!  How do you.... THIS ONE!!!!  That's right.  Man!"

Everyone in my guild over in SWG is good at treating everyone well as they are here in RoH.  It is just my issue, but it hasn't gotten one centimeter better in 9 years.  It is so frustrating for me.  I know what to do, but my putting that into practice...  Like I said... frustrating!

If I manage to log in this week, I will update you as I go.  For now though, both my toons are still level 7.

I'm sorry to hear about your mood block Soasa. But don't feel like your missing some sort of 'peak' time. As of right now, there is no time where 'everyone logs on', since we all have different schedules. @Ellenore and I will log on to play with one another, but that doesn't count because we are married and can plan for it. And don't feel you need to wear yourself out! Just play as you can! That is the idea behind our fellowship anyways. :) If you decide you'd rather not delve too deeply into Lotro right now for reasons you describe, that is okay, but know that we are all here to help and cheer for ya if/when you do jump in.

Hey!  I'm still monitoring the group and I have a plethora of alts at various levels  from 11 to 110 (mainly minstrel, hunter, champion).

So busy with things, but if I can ever join in, and have an appropriate class and level, I will.

Enjoy the journey.  It's amazing in Middle Earth.

Thanks Elisel! I know you are busy but we would be GLAD to have you anytime you want and are able to jump in!

  13. Update: I added a 'current fellowship' in the OP of this thread. I'll do that each month (I hope). I am not sure what some of you will be playing, so I left a ? for now. I know it took me over 2 weeks of internal debate to decide what class I really wanted lol. If anyone has an update or wants me to adjust something (or I simply make a mistake), just reply here and I will update it! Thanks!

I've been participating in the anniversary events over the last week or so and that has been fun. I've definitely settled on my loremaster as the character that I'll be playing. I tried captain as well since I thought it might be good for group play but I just really enjoy the loremaster more.

Shall we put together a list of the character names for the group so that we can friend each other or have another way to connect in game? I know there is supposed to be a way to see the character note with our forum names that we are asked to set but I haven't figured out how to see those for other people.

My character's name is Rashildhon which I believe is pronounced: rah-SHEEL-then. If we have any resident Tolkien linguistic experts you can let me know if I managed to get that right! I came up with that one before I thought I would be grouping with him much. 🙄

Lore-master is fun indeed! Mine is still low level, but I can't wait to level up and get legendary items, as well as dual wield sword and staff! And @Ellenore and @Daizey each will have a captain so don't feel bad! You made the right choice to play what you enjoy!

I think you might be right, it would be very helpful to have our roster of those actively participating in the fellowship so we can keep track of one another and have a visual of what our group consists of. I will start placing that on each months' thread as we get rolling. For the kinship panel player notes, you can find that by looking at the kinship window. You'll see (from left to right), class, level, character name, rank, online/offline, and then something like location. Next to the location buttom (the far right column), you should see an icon that looks like a 'play' icon (at least to me). Click on that and it toggles that last column of information. You can toggle it between character location, kinship join date, or player note.

I'm no Tolkien linguist, but I'd say your name is pretty awesome! I probably would have assumed rah-SHEEL-den, but either way it is a good sounding name. Very Tolkienish.

  15. Oh, and by the way @Amrithir, I already died! 😢 Got caught by too many mobs in the Chetwood at level 8, and I'm still getting the hang of the warden gambit system. Didn't heal up enough. I thought about re-rolling, but figured nah, I could live without the title. But I hope others have better luck than I had!

  16. Checking in to see how everyone is doing! I hope things are going well!

@Ellenore and I have finally decided on our characters for the group and have begun! I started in Archet (man) and she in Celondim (high elf), but tonight we finally linked up and started working together. :D I joined her in Ered Luin, and we will probably be questing there and then on to the Bree-lands!

I wanted to roll a dwarf (they are the best, after all), but my only dwarves available are hunter, RK, and champion, all dps classes. I figured I'd play a warden for its versatility, so man it is. Though I'll probably level other toons up so I can switch off as we need.

We left off tonight at level 11, so making some progress! How is it with you all?

Unfortunately yes. Kinship membership is per-character, not account.

I will be on this evening if someone else is not around before then to send invites to any/all who want one.

  18. Grats man, glad you were able to get a free transfer! Must have been an old server that they shut down?

Can't go wrong with any of those classes! Truth be told I'm still on the fence about what I'll be playing myself! I have a lot of lowbies I'm debating on. 😛

Minstrel is fun! And so many different musical instruments you can choose from and enjoy. My minstrel is only level 34ish, is a hobbit, and plays the bagpipes. :D

Finally got my mini, Teladrean, up and out of the intro. 😁

I got the 'go get a craft' quest and it brought to mind the question...do we want to coordinate on craft skills at all?

I talked to you about this in game, and I still think everyone should pick whatever crafting profession they feel they would enjoy/like the most. But reading it here on the forums got me to thinking that you may be on to something about coordinating, or at least communicating it just a bit.

I would suggest that we all announce whatever it is we decide to do (regarding crafting). That way those of us who are willing/able can donate the mats we collect along the way to those who need it to level up their craft. How does that sound?
